Mission Statement
Texas HERO is a non-profit organization that exists to promote higher standards of performance quality for energy raters, energy auditors, and home performance professionals, by providing technical expertise, certification and standards development, training, tools and quality assurance for industry stakeholders interested in high performing new and existing homes and buildings.
Our goal is to have every home in Texas rated, audited, or improved by a Texas HERO certified professional.

• 1999 – Senate Bill 7 – Singed by G.W. Bush
– Deregulates Public Electric Industry
– Efficiency Requirement Mandate for Regulated Transmission
Utilities were required to:
1. administer energy savings incentive programs,
2. provide customers access to energy efficiency alternatives and;
3. provide incentives for electric retailers to engage in energy
efficiency efforts.

Chartered as 501c6 – Member Trade Organization To:
• hold meetings and conferences for the mutual improvement and education of
its members,
• providing a common meeting ground for congenial interchange of ideas
among the Home Energy Rating profession,
• own, edit, publish and disseminate and distribute magazines and other
publications
• To cooperate with local, regional, national, and international groups to
establish and maintain liaison with other professional and business groups.
