INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO
UPDATE YOUR HOME THIS
SPRING
Spring is finally starting to provide a little relief from the
long, cold winter, which means it’s time to spring clean
and fix up our homes for the rest of the year.
It is a great time to start new projects. It’s a time of year
when everything is being revived and renewed, so why
not join in and take some time to freshen up your home
with a few affordable updates?
THE KITCHEN
The kitchen is one of the first rooms that people notice. It’s where you spend a lot of time eating, preparing food, and sitting around the table enjoying each other’s company. This makes it the ideal place to start looking for opportunities to make simple upgrades.
Add character to your kitchen with a new faucet and some matching appliances.
If you have a little more to invest you could go as far as a new tile backsplash
Add decorative shelves to an empty wall or by removing a couple of cabinet doors.
Add a fresh coat of paint on the walls or the cupboards to make everything else in the room feel new.
THE BATHROOM
Replace faucets on the sink, tub, and
shower (or shower heads)
Add new paint to the walls for a fresh
feel
Install a new medicine cabinet above
the sink or a cabinet above the toilet
for some extra storage.
Retiling the whole floor might be out
of the question, but you can always
replace chipped tiles or re-grout the
old dingy stuff for a minimal amount
of money.
NEW COLORS
Are all your walls still the same shade of off-white that they were
when you moved in? Does it remind you of your old college
apartments? It may be time for a change.
Consider painting just one or two rooms and
maybe a hallway or two.
Try using a couple different colors (one for the
walls, one for the trimming) that have a nice
contrast.
IN THE YARD
A new tree in the right place will
help shade your home from the
burning, afternoon sun, while
Some dry landscaping will help
you cut down on the time spent
mowing and watering the lawn.
Make sure the walks are clean,
the dead limbs and leaves are
cleaned up, and all the yard
tools are in working order.

A Welcoming Entrance

Take a look at your front door. Is the paint starting to peel? Is it a little warped? This is the first thing visitors will see close up, so why not make sure it looks nice. If it’s warped or cracked, it may be time to replace it, but if it’s just dirty and discolored, a fresh coat of paint or varnish might be the way to go.
Spring is finally here, and it’s the perfect chance for home owners to the opportunity to spruce things up and start those projects that have been neglected for too long.
