Faisal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-SabahDeputy Managing Director, Relations & IT

I would like to congratulate you on the advent of the holy month of

Ramadan; in addition to dispatching cables of congratulations to HH the

Amir and HH Crown Prince, imploring Allah, the Almighty, to protect

our beloved Kuwait from any misfortune.

We look forward to resuming our hard work during the holy month of

Ramadan hoping this holy month to bolster the spirit of teamwork which

requires adopting self-denial principle that is considered a positive step

towards spiritual integration.

The spirit of devotion at work makes us feel the humbleness of our effort

compared to our great goals which are aimed to develop the Kuwaiti

oil industry and underpin its international status in the various oil

fields particularly refining industry. You might feel the significance of

integration in performance which is achieved by the spirit of teamwork.

This is the spirit which we have inherited from forefathers and ancestors

who exerted tremendous efforts to reach the current high status which

the State of Kuwait has occupied.

As the spirit of teamwork is the resource of our power, we should preferably

utilize this holy month to work hard and support communication among

each other to surmount the difficulties which we confront and fulfill the

hopes and ambitions of our nation.

Welcome Ramadan

Welcome Ramadan. Welcome month

of donations and blessings from Al-

lah, the Almighty, who bestows His

forgivingness unlimitedly to Mus-

lims during this holy month. He frees

Muslims from Hell in this holy month

and forgives those who commit mis-

takes. He doubles the good deeds of

Muslims in this holy month and He

accepts the repentance of sinners. He

achieves the hopes of worshipers.

Messenger of revelation Gabriel

(PBUH) said to prophet Muhammad

(PBUH), “He is loser the one who

witnesses Ramadan and misses the

forgiveness of Allah, the Almighty.

Say Amen; then the prophet Muham-

mad said Amen.”

Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be

pleased with him, said, “The prophet

Muhammad (PBUH) was generous

and he was the most generous person

during the holy month of Ramadan.

He was meeting Gabriel (PBUH) ev-

ery night during Ramadan to teach

him the holy Qur’an. The prophet

Muhammad (PBUH) was more gen-

erous than the winds which Allah, the

Almighty, dispatches full of good to

people.

Generosity and alms

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was

quoted as saying that fast and Qur’an

mediate for the Muslim on the dooms-

day. Fast says, “Oh! Allah, I deprived

him of having food and enjoying

sexual intercourse with his wife in

daytime, so, accept my mediation for

him. Moreover, Qur’an says, “Oh!

Allah, I deprived him of sleeping at

night during Ramadan, so, accept my

mediation for him. Then, Allah, the

Almighty, accepts their mediation.”

It is said that Imam Abu Hanifa was

reciting the holy Qur’an and con-

cluding it every day and night twice.

Moreover, Qatada bin Doaama was

reciting and concluding the holy

Qur’an every seven nights. Yet,

when the holy Ramadan approaches,

he concluded reciting it every three

Page 13: kpc news 150

nights, but when the last ten nights

of the holy Ramadan starts, he con-

cluded reciting it every night.

Maali bin Al-Fadhel said Salafists

were entreating Allah, the Almighty,

for six month to let them witness the

holy month of Ramadan. In addition,

they were entreating Him for six

months to accept their worship.”

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was

quoted as saying, “Spread peace,

feed the poor, visit relatives, and per-

form prayers at night when people are

sleeping, then you will enter Paradise

peacefully.”

Prophet said, “When the first night

of the holy month of Ramadan ap-

proaches, devils are shackled, the

doors of Paradise are opened and the

doors of Hell are shut down. More-

over, a caller from Heaven says, “Oh!

The one who seeks good deeds ap-

proaches. Oh! The one who desires

bad deeds go away!”

Abu Huraira said that the prophet

(PBUH) was quoted as saying that

the previous sins of the Muslim per-

son who piously fasts the holy month

of Ramadan for the sake of Allah, the

Almighty, are forgiven. In addition,

the previous sins of the Muslim who

worships piously Allah, the Almighty,

in Al-Qadr night are forgiven too.

Abu Horaira, may Allah b pleased

with him, said the prophet (PBUH)

said, “The five prayers, Fridays, and

Ramadan atone sins as long as great

sins are not committed.”

The holy month of Ramadan is dis-

tinguished with ‘Al-Qadr night’ in

which worship is equal to the wor-

ship performed in one thousand

months. Moreover, one Omrah – mi-

nor hajj – performed in Ramadan is

equal to hajj – pilgrimage in terms of

religious award.

Sahl bin Saad, may

Allah be pleased with

him, said the prophet

(PBUH) said, “Paradise

has eight doors among which

a door called ‘Al-Rayan’ through

which Muslims who fast are only

accessed, adding the one who drinks

from it never feels thirst.

Abu Horaira said that the prophet

(PBUH) was quoted as saying, “The

Muslim who fasts has two joys: one

joy when he breaks his fast, and the

second one is when he meets Al-

lah.”

The Muslim who fasts becomes hap-

py when he breaks his fast because

Allah, the Almighty, enables him to

complete his fasting. The Muslim is

happy also with meeting Allah par-

ticularly when He is satisfied with

him.

Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal used to

enter the mosque once when Ra-

madan approaches and keep asking

Allah’s forgiveness. He had to leave

the mosque to go to his house only

if necessary and then he come back

immediately to the mosque.

We thank Allah, the Almighty, for

witnessing the holy month of Rama-

dan this year; in addition, we entreat

Him to enable all of us to fast and

perform worship piously to be ac-

cepted.
