Highlights - FEI World Cup™ Jumping: 1979-2014
Year Final City Highlights
2014 Lyon
Lyon hosted the Final for the fourth time in the series. All
eyes were on Beezie Madden as she set off on her mission
to bring the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping trophy
back to the USA for the third year in succession.
However, Daniel Deusser with the 11-year-old stallion
Cornet d’Amour won this prestigious Final and secured
Germany’s 10th victory. Germany now heads the table for
the most wins, with the USA in second with nine victories.
2013 Gothenburg
Beezie Madden and Simon claimed a back-to-back win for
the USA, and Madden became the fifth woman to hold
the coveted trophy in her hands.
2012 ‘s Hertogenbosch
Rich Fellers and Flexible ended a 25-year drought for the
USA, and at 16 years old Flexible was the oldest horse in
the competition. Gothenburg also welcomed the first
riders from Qatar & Egypt to the Final.
2011 Leipzig
Christian Ahlmann recorded the ninth German win in the
33rd year of the series - this was also the fourth
successive German victory.
2010 Geneva
Germany’s Marcus Ehning celebrated his third title win on
his 36th birthday at the top of the world rankings with Plot
Blue.
2009 Las Vegas
Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum became the first female
rider to win all 3 Final competitions with Shutterfly.

Gothenburg
FEI World Cup Jumping™, the world’s oldest and biggest
indoor series, marked its 30th anniversary.
2007
Las Vegas
Las Vegas celebrated its fifth Final, and will host its next
Final in 2015.
2006 Kuala Lumpur
South East Asia held its first Final with the first riders
from Russia, Philippines and Iran.
2005 Las Vegas
Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum became the first European
woman to win the series Final with Shutterfly. This was
also the first combined Jumping and Dressage Final.
2004 Milan
Bruno Broucqsault and Dilème de Cèphe celebrated
France’s first Final win, and the first athletes from Estonia
and Malaysia competed at this Final.
2003 Las Vegas
Marcus Ehning scored his first victory with Anka and
Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa and Baloubet du Rouet celebrated
their sixth top-three placing in a row.
2002
Leipzig
Otto Becker scored Germany’s second Final victory with
Dobel’s Cento and the first Czech rider competed at this
Final.
2001 Gothenburg
Markus Fuchs with Tinka’s Boy secured Switzerland’s first
win.

2000 Las Vegas
Hat-trick for Rodrigo Pessoa and Baloubet de Rouet, and
they scored their third consecutive Final win with a clear
round. Riders from Denmark and Columbia also
competed for the first time at this Final.

Gothenburg
Trevor Coyle and Cruising celebrated Ireland’s number
two spot after Eddie Macken scored third with Carrols of
Dundalk at the first Final in 1979.
1998
Helsinki
A story of firsts: Rodrigo Pessoa and Baloubet de Rouet
scored their first victory at Finland’s first FEI World Cup
Jumping™ Final where the first Bulgarian and Finnish
riders competed.
1997
Gothenburg
Austria’s Hugo Simon celebrated his third win and his
second on E.T. FRH.
1996 Geneva
After winning the first FEI World Cup Jumping™ Final in
1979 with Gladstone, Hugo Simon came back to win his
second Final this time with E.T. FRH.
1995
Gothenburg
Nick Skelton won his first Final with Everest Dollar Girl,
scoring Great Britain’s third win, and Greek and Cyprian
riders competed for the first time.
1994 s-Hertogenbosch
Jos Lansink (NED) became the first athlete to win the
Final in his own country and jumped clear with Bollv.
Libero H.
1993
Gothenburg
Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum celebrated
Germany’s first win with Almox Ratina, and the first
Romanian rider competed at this Final.

Thomas Frühmann and Böckmann’s Genius scored
Austria’s second win at this first West Coast Final, which
welcomed Hungary’s first rider.

John Whitaker (GBR) and Milton scored their second
consecutive win and Brazil’s Nelson Pessoa, aged 55,
celebrated his second number two spot, this time with
Special Envoy.
1990
Dortmund
Pierre Durand (FRA) and the legendary Jappeloup
celebrated their second spot at their third Final.
1989
Tampa
Canada’s Ian Millar and Big Ben went clear to become the
first repeat winners at the Final.
1988
Gothenburg
FEI World Cup Jumping™ celebrated its tenth anniversary
with Ian Millar and Big Ben taking victory for Canada.
1987
Paris
France hosted its first Final, where the USA scored its
seventh win thanks to Katharine Burdsall and The
Natural.
1986
Gothenburg
Leslie Burr Lenehan (USA) became the second woman to
win the Final on McLain.
1985
Berlin
The USA’s Conrad Homfeld became the first repeat
winner of the Final on Abdullah (his last win was in 1980
in Baltimore).
1984

Canada’s Mario Deslauriers and Aramis became the
youngest winners of the Final, and broke the USA’s four-
year victory cycle.

win and the first New Zealand rider competed at this fifth
Final.

The USA’s Melanie Smith became the first woman to win
the Final with Calypso.

The third Final saw USA secure the top two spots
consecutively, this time with Michael Matz and Jet Run
stealing the charge, and South American riders competed
for the first time.
1980
Baltimore
The USA celebrated hosting its first Final with its second
consecutive number two spot taken by a female rider -
this time by Melanie Smith on Calypso - and the first
Australians competed at this Final.
1979
Gothenburg
Hugo Simon and Gladstone emerged to steal the limelight
and Katie Monahan with The Jones Boy placed second at
the first Final for what is now the world’s oldest and
biggest indoor Jumping series.
