The 25th Anniversary Mainly Mozart Festival please join me to celebrate 25 years of wonderful

performances with some of the best musicians

in the country. It will be my last with the Festival,

and therefore an appropriate time to include

pieces featuring many of the works and artists

from our premiere season. William preucil and

Cynthia phelps return to recreate their immensely

satisfying interpretation of one of Mozart’s greatest

masterpieces, the Sinfonia Concertante; Anton Nel, always a favourite with San Diego

audiences, plays the same concerto as in our inaugural series; and the Festival ends

with Mozart’s first and final symphonies used once again as musical bookends

to bring our 25th Anniversary Festival to a brilliant and satisfying conclusion.

It has been my immense pleasure and honour to bring high

quality performances to San Diego over such a long period of time

and, from the very beginning, to work alongside my wonderful

friend and colleague, Nancy Laturno Bojanic. Long may she and

Mainly Mozart continue to flourish.

The interpretive cover illustration of W. Amadeus Mozart was commissioned by Mainly Mozart to reflect the innovative nature of the 2013 Festival. The artist, Hua Tunan, is a rising artist from Foshan, China whose style has been described as “making paint look like it serendipitously exploded all over the canvas.”
