People of Artillery

• Galileo was the first person to measure cannon trajectory. However, the people at his time didn’t like new discoveries, and he was almost burned to death.

• In the time of the revolutionary war, not a lot of people were educated. So those that were skilled enough to be able to shoot a cannon a course seemed like wizards. They were also considered elite troops.

Bronze vs. Iron

• There are benefits to both bronze and iron cannons.

• Bronze cannons were lighter, making it easier to drag them across the country.

• Iron cannons, however, were stronger. They could hold a bigger charge, which causes them to shoot farther.
