Moral Law vs Ceremonial Law

Moral Law Definition

The basic meaning of the word "moral" is:

relating to, or capable of making the distinction

between right and wrong.

The Moral Law also called

the Ten Commandments do

just that. In a simplistic and

straightforward way, they

clearly make the distinction

between right and wrong

behavior.

The Ceremonial Law is also called Moses Law

and it was added because of the transgression

of the Moral Law. The Ceremonial law

consisted of ordinances, ceremonies and

sacrifices in the sanctuary system that pointed

to the future redemption through Jesus Christ.

Moral Law

1 Cor. 5:7 – Christ was sacrificed so we would gain redemption

Ceremonial Law

Romans 3:20 – It points out sin

Ceremonial Law

Matthew 5:17-18 – It’s Unchangeable

[17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one title shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Colossians 2:14 – Blotted out, nailed to the cross.
