Today, we will be quizzing you on the four Californian tribes. This will be an open book quiz. Turn your Social Studies book open to pg. 36. Those tribes are the Miwok, Chumash, Cahuilla, Hupa. We will be testing you on what they eat, what homes they live in, and where they lived.

We will be starting with the Miwok.

What kind of house did the Miwok live in?

They lived in houses made of redwood bark.

Where did the Miwok live in California?

They lived near the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Do you know what kind of food the Miwok ate?

They ate deer, fish, and acorns.

Now, we will be moving on to the Chumash.

Do you know what kind of house they lived in?

They built their houses in a dome-shaped home covered in woven grass.

Who knows what the Chumash ate?

They ate acorns, deer, fish, and whales.

Who knows where the Chumash lived?

They lived in the central of the coast near Santa Barbara.

We are going to the Hupa.

What kind of house did the Hupa live in?

The Hupa built their houses out of cedar wood planks.

Who knows what the Hupa ate?

They ate deer, fish, and acorns.

Where did the Hupa live?

They lived in the North Coast Ranges.

We are coming to the end of our slide show. We are on our last tribe, the Cahuilla.

Who knows what kind of house the Cahuilla lived in?

They lived in a reed house called a Kish.

What did they eat?

They ate antelope and small animals.

Where did they live?

They lived near the Mojave Desert.
