• NFC is a wireless close-range communication technology which allows data transfer between two gadgets.

• Mainly aimed for mobile and handheld devices.

• Extension of Radio Frequency Identification(RFID).

• In 2004, the NFC forum was formed to set standards for NFC.

Introduction [1]

4

For two devices to communicate using NFC, one device must have an NFC reader/writer and the other must have an NFC tag

The Tag is essentially an Integrated Circuit containing data, connected to an Antenna, that can read and written by the reader.

It operates at the frequency of 13.56 MHz.

The rate of Data Transfer is up to 424 Kbits/s.

Features [1]

5

Usually a microcontroller-based (for example NFC enabled phones) with an integrated circuits that is capable of generating radio frequency at 13.56 MHz

NFC Reader [1]

6

• An RFID device incorporating a silicon memory chip connecting to external antenna.

• Tag does not have its own power source (passive).

• The passive tag absorbs a small portion of the energy emitted by the reader (phone), and starts sending modulated information when sufficient energy is acquired.

NFC Tag [1][2]

• PASSIVE MODE

• A NFC-enabled mobile phone is paired with a RFID-tagged "smart poster"

• ACTIVE MODE

• A NFC-enabled mobile phone is paired with a RFID-tagged "smart poster"

Android and NFC

9

•Application is implemented using cell phone with NFC- technology planted within.

•Two Application will be developed viz:▫TraiNFC : for travelers▫Trainductor : for Condecture

System Design and Overview[1]

10

TraiNFC

• Purchase ticket and Book the ticket for several days ahead

• Monitor purchased train ticket

• Select desired seat for each passenger

Trainductor

• Manage departure train schedule

• Scan train ticketing• Monitor Train ticketing

The application made has work correctly due it itsfunctionality, attractive application, fast responded TraiNFCApplication

And user’s confession on the possibility of thisapplication to be one of method in ticket purchasing

Result Analysis[1]

14

•Application created is a prototype which can be implemented in train company, and still has wide chance of development based on the needs.

•NFC technology can be used to simplify train ticket purchase process and electronic ticket distribution, especially cell phone electronic ticket.

•Average process time needed for each activity existed within application, need less than 1 minute.
