The pneumatic ship unloader only requires a pipelineconnection to handle the entire conveying process fromship to store. This enables it to work in practically anytype of dock environment. The pipeline may run below,at or above ground level. The unloader also functionswith removable pipeline sections.

Pneumatic unloading: Total flexibility

The large pneumatic unloader can reach the entire ship’shold without repositioning. This unique feature allowsdock-mobile, barge-mounted and rail-mounted configu-rations, all offering a very high average through-the-shipcapacity. The easily manoeuvrable vacuum suction armcombines high efficiency with superior environmentalcharacteristics.

Vacuum unloading providesexcellent cleaning capability.

Sized to fit180 TPHPneumatic unloaders are available in various capacity ranges depending onthe size of the terminal in question. The180 tph Kovako Road-Mobile Unloaderis an excellent solution for small vessels.

300 TPHFor medium sized terminals the 300 tphpneumatic unloader offers a competitivesolution for rail-mounted, dock-mobileor barge-mounted configurations.

425 TPHTerminals with a high throughput requirea high capacity shipunloader. The 425tph pneumatic unloader caters for thisneed and various configurations areavailable.

600 TPHThe top of the line pneumatic unloaderhas a throughput of 600 tph. To makeoptimum use of this large unloader, the railmounted version is the preferredsolution.

The unloading process

The highly manoeuvrable vacuum arm can access any part of the hold without repositioning theunloader. The cargo can be unloaded in a level waywithout creating dust emission.

1 Using a remote control unit, the operator directsthe movements of the suction arm.

2 The material is mixed with air at the suction nozzle and vacuumed into the suction pipeline.

3 The 360 degrees rotation of the 3rd arm sectionenables it to reach into all corners of the hold.

4 The mixture of material and air is vacuumedthrough the suction air pipeline to the filter tank.

5 Air and material are separated inside the filter tank. The material then drops down into one of the two transfer tanks.

6 The transfer tanks alternate between being filledwith material and being blown empty.

7 The air used for the vacuum conveying process iscleaned by high efficiency filters in the filter tank.

8 The vacuum pumps that provide the air for the vacuum conveying process are located in a machine room on the unloader.

9 The compressors for the conveying process arelocated in a machine room on the unloader or on the quay as shown.

10 The compressed air passes via a pipeline and a rubber hose connection to the ship unloader.

11 The compressed air is mixed with the material in the transfer tank.

12 The material is conveyed to the storage through the rubber hose connection and the pipeline onshore.

13 The whole unloading process is fully automatic and interfaced with the control system of the storage facility.

Dock-mobile unloadersIn cases where there are no rails available or theunloader cannot be located permanently on thequay, a dock-mobile unloader is an excellent solution. Dock-mobile unloaders are either self-propelled or pulled by a front-end loader.

Barge-mounted unloadersIn cases where no suitable dock facilities are available or the unloader is to be used at severalterminals, a barge-mounted pneumatic unloader is the ideal solution. Complete accessibility of theentire hold without repositioning the barge and an easy rubber hose onshore connection are significant advantages offered by this type ofunloader.

Rail-mounted unloadersLarge pneumatic unloaders come in various configurationsto match specific unloading situations. A rail-mountedunloader moves easily and quickly alongside the ship, allowing a high through-the-ship unloading rate.
