SITE CLASSIFICATION REPORT BLOCK 1 SECTION 45 SUBURB. Lawson

CLIENT Brown Consulting (ACT) Pty Ltd Introduction: This report provides a site classification for Block 1, Section 45, Lawson, ACT prepared by Douglas Partners Pty Ltd in accordance with the guidelines of AS2870-2011 (Ref 1). Bulk Earthworks: Ground surface levels in Block 1 Section 45 have been lowered in cut as part of general regrading works completed during 2014 in Stage 1C of the Lawson South Estate. Depth of cut is estimated to range from 0.0 m to 2.0 m front to rear of the block. Subsurface Conditions: Subsurface conditions in Block 1 were assessed on the basis of two test pits dug by Douglas Partners Pty Ltd after the bulk earthworks had been completed. The strata exposed in the pits can be summarised as follows: Test Pit 1: Located midway on the north western boundary of Block 1. Medium to high strength, moderately to slightly weathered siltstone bedrock was encountered to the refusal depth of 0.2 m. Test Pit 2 - Located midway on the southern boundary of Block 1. Topsoil to 0.1 m depth was present over high strength, moderately to slightly weathered siltstone bedrock to the refusal depth of 0.2 m. Site Classification: Block 1, Section 45, Lawson is a Class A (stable) site. The site classification is applicable to structure types as described in AS 2870 – 2011 (Ref 1) and should be reassessed if ground levels are raised or lowered by more than about 0.5 m for a building platform. Footing Systems: AS2870-2011 (Ref 1) provides deemed-to-comply footing systems appropriate for a Class A site. Footing systems should be approved by a structural engineer and take account of the presence of any service trenches, backfill zones, retaining walls and underground structures that are within the stress zone of influence of the footings. Footings should be founded in the bedrock.

unexpected variations in subsurface conditions that are not evident from the inspection; and

the actions of contractors responding to commercial pressures.

SITE CLASSIFICATION REPORT BLOCK 2 SECTION 45 SUBURB. Lawson

CLIENT Brown Consulting (ACT) Pty Ltd Introduction: This report provides a site classification for Block 2, Section 45, Lawson, ACT prepared by Douglas Partners Pty Ltd in accordance with the guidelines of AS2870-2011 (Ref 1). Bulk Earthworks: Ground surface levels in Block 2 Section 45 have been slightly lowered in cut as part of general regrading works completed during 2014 in Stage 1C of the Lawson South Estate. Subsurface Conditions: Subsurface conditions in Block 2 were assessed on the basis of two test pits dug by Douglas Partners Pty Ltd after the bulk earthworks had been completed. The strata exposed in the pits can be summarised as follows: Test Pit 3 - Located midway on the southern boundary of Block 2. Topsoil to 0.3 m depth overlies natural soil of hard, moist to dry, medium plasticity silty clay to 0.6 m depth, then medium to high strength, moderately weathered siltstone bedrock to the refusal depth of 0.7 m. Test Pit 4 - Located at the north – eastern corner of Block 2. Topsoil filling to 0.1 m depth was encountered over general filling of moist silty gravelly clay to 0.4 m depth then natural soil of very stiff, moist to dry, low to medium plasticity silty clay to 0.9 m depth and very stiff, moist to dry, medium plasticity silty gravelly clay to 1.2 m depth, overlying variably very low strength to high strength, highly to moderately weathered siltstone bedrock to the 1.5 m pit termination depth. Site Classification: Block 2, Section 45, Lawson is a Class S (slightly reactive) site. The site classification is applicable to structure types as described in AS 2870 – 2011 (Ref 1) and should be reassessed if ground levels are raised or lowered by more than about 0.5 m for a building platform.
