With GEZE Cockpit, we are closing the gaps in building automation with the first smart door, window and safety system. The unique networking of door and window technology with smart software and open interfaces offers planners and operators new opportunities in building automation. For greater efficiency, security, and conveni-ence. For dynamic safety and fire protection concepts, intelligent smoke and heat extraction, and for targeted escape route release. For modular automation and greater opportunities. GEZE Cockpit uses the open BACnet standard to integrate door, window and safety technology into building management systems. It can be used as an independent stand-alone solution, or be integrated into a higher-ranking building management system. The hardware component comprises an embedded system, on which three different GEZE software packages can be installed. Data is exchanged via the IO 420 interface module. Because the GEZE Cockpit applications are browser-based, they can be operated on any IP-enabled device, including a PC, tablet, or smartphone.

Different software packages – tailored to your needs

The GEZE Cockpit BASIC application allows GEZE Cockpit to be integrated into a higher-ranking building manage-ment system so that it becomes possible to operate and monitor installed GEZE products. Detailed configuration software and user data administration are also available. The GEZE Cockpit VISU and VISU+ applications enable the solution to be used as an independent building automation system. For example, the GEZE Cockpit VISU version includes an application that enables you to visualise products and detect and change the specific mode at any time, independent of location. With GEZE Cockpit VISU+, alarms, monitoring and an e-mail reporting service can also be configured, enabling all products to be controlled without the need for a visual inspection.

Secure facades: with multifunctional systemsThe demands on buildings used daily by many people are becoming increasingly complex. Whether exhibition halls, clinics or airports: the solution are intelligent door and window systems by GEZE, which can be integrated into the BACnet communication standard via the IO 420 interface module. The new GEZE Cockpit building automation system enables intelligent systems to be operated and monitored remotely with ease. This means that multi-functional door solutions (see the use case on page 12) can be operated in different ways according to different needs: as an accessible automatic door in daytime operation, for example, and as a secure emergency exit in night mode. A new automatic sliding door system (see the use case on page 14) is perfect for use in areas with increased requirements in terms of hygiene and air-tightness. A facade that responds to the climate can be created by connecting the GEZE IQ windowdrives to the KNX building bus via the IQ box KNX (see the use case on page 20). Additional components – such as heating or air-conditioning – can also be integrated via KNX actuators.

Universal Design – made in Germany: the automatic Powerturn swing door drive can also open large and heavy doors with a leaf weight of up to 600 kg reliably and safely. The 'strong man' of GEZE is also the right solution for fire protection doors of up to 600 kg. At the same time, its low overall height of 7 cm fits seamlessly with every design. This solution’s unique Smart swing function also facilitates effortless manual passage through the door – for anyone and at all times. From reliable RWA solutions to complex security interlocking door systems: as a true team player, the Powerturn can be integrated flexibly in a wide range of different systems, ensuring a perfect fit across the product range.

New versions: more opportunities for strong designs

GEZE Powerturn F/R-IS/TS is the ideal hybrid of door automation and door closer technology. It is particularly suitable for double leaf doors, for example asymmetrical doors, where mainly the active leaf moves, and is operated automatically for increased comfort. The passive leaf is fitted with a door closer. One particular visual feature is the universal drive look across both door leaves. The smoke control unit is also invisibly integrated into the cover. This 'duo' is a welcome solution for asymmetrical doors.

Initially available only in certain countries, GEZE Powerturn is now available in an underfloor drive version. The entire door automation is accommodated virtually invisibly in the floor and in the wall, and can move doors with a weight of up to 125 kg and a width of up to 1,250 mm. The underfloor version is especially suitable for environ-ments with particularly high aesthetic expectations, or for use with glass doors.

Whether in the operating theatre or on intensive care and dialysis wards: the new GEZE Powerdrive hermetic sliding door system is ideally equipped for applications with demanding hygiene and air-tightness requirements. The complete system – consisting of door leaves, automatic drive and the frame – is suitable for clinical areas, and is also perfect for clean rooms, sterilisation rooms and laboratories.

An all-round seal, combined with the frame, provides very low air permeability (class 3-4 of 4). The door leaf is also lowered and pressed into the framework construction, strengthening the effect. The flush door design and special surface materials used prevent dirt from accumulating, and simplify hygienic cleaning. While the door opens completely when a hospital bed needs to be pushed through, it opens only half-way to allow a person through. The varying opening widths help to reduce the penetration of foreign particles and minimise the exchange of air. Where necessary, different opening widths can be created for cleaning staff via a manual push button. Further extra functions are available, including definable opening widths and hold-open times.

With Powerdrive PL-HT, it is also a a sophisticated mechanism which achieves low air permeability by lowering and pressing the door leaf against the framework construction. This kit version, consisting of a drive kit and long materials, is also perfect for use in clinics and the high-tech, pharmaceutical, and the food and drink industries.

GEZE is expanding its automatic sliding door system portfolio with the ECdrive H kit solution designed especially for use in clinical areas. Preparation rooms and departmental laboratories specifically require doors and passage-ways that are as germ-free as possible. With opening widths optimised for hospital use (nurse opening, cleaning opening, bed opening), the ingress of foreign particles can be reduced and air exchange minimised. Low-depth tracks reduce dirt residue and simplify hygiene cleaning. There are numerous configurations, all based around the kit solution, allowing project-specific collaboration with installation companies. Whether in office complexes, educational institutions or administrative buildings: energy- efficient ventilation, a healthy indoor climate and secure monitoring of the window modes are key requirements in large buildings. Networked solutions from GEZE fulfil these require-ments. A climate active facade (see the use case on page 20) is created as the result of the intelligent interplay between automated window drives and special sensors which record external environmental influences and the indoor climate. Automatic night-time back cooling (see the use case on page 22), which results in natural air-conditioning in buildings, is achieved by using an automated window solution.

The GEZE IQ box KNX interface module allows window elements to be integrated into the KNX communication standard. As a result, automated windows can be controlled and monitored intelligently.

Energy-efficient facades: smart and safe ventilation

A natural, energy-efficient supply of fresh air whenever needed – entirely on demand and controllable at all times: the new GEZE IQ box KNX interface module allows IQ windowdrives to be directly incorporated in KNX building systems, facilitating dialogue with other KNX-enabled components, such as push buttons and sensors. In contrast to simple switch contacts, the IQ box KNX uses the intelligence of the window drives. After performing a 'com-mand' it reports the mode of a window to the KNX building system or building management system. The module also provides more detailed window information, such as the precise opening width.

Wherever energy-efficient building operation is needed, switching to automatically operated windows is benefi-cial. TS 5000 SoftClose overhead door closer:quiet, powerful and accessible

Reliable door closing – even in unfavourable environments: the strong point of the new GEZE TS 5000 SoftClose door closer is its high flexibility. Depending on requirements, a latching action can be set, or the door leaf can be slowed down to the last opening degree. Thanks to this optimised closing process, the door is pulled into the lock securely, using constant force. Doors thus close safely and gently, even in difficult conditions such as wind and draught, and in underground car park interlocking door systems or staircases for example. The TS 5000 SoftClose door closer is the right choice for anywhere that needs doors to be closed quietly and safely – whether in clinics, hotels or apartment buildings. Door damping prevents doors from banging shut shortly before the closing position. The end closing speed can be set easily and flexibly via a valve. Moreover, the new version fulfils DIN 18040 requirements for barrier-free construction up to a leaf width of 1,100 mm.

As the new door closer is compatible with all versions from the GEZE TS 5000 series, it can easily be exchanged for existing solutions without needing any extra components. It can also be used with all types of guide rails.

FA GC 170 wireless extension kit:clever components for hold-open systems

The new GEZE FA GC 170 wireless extension kit allows you to wirelessly connect ceiling-mounted detector and manual trigger switch to the lintel-mounted detector on all GEZE hold-open systems. No separate cables need to be laid, which facilitates planning, especially in listed buildings. In addition, the new solution can easily be retrofitted, and has been tested in accordance with the European DIN EN 54-25 standard for fire alarm systems. The long five-year battery life ensures low maintenance costs.

Electric strikes are important aids for doors which experience a high level of use. Special electric strikes are essential for fire protection doors. The new version is also approved, and optimally suited, for use on fire protec-tion doors. FT300 offers more convenience, as it opens doors even with a preload of up to 500 N, with a full latch engagement. The latch engagement depth for double leaf solid leaf doors is 9 mm. At the same time, the electric strike offers a maximum holding force of 10,000 N against tampering, allowing it to be used as a safety electric strike too. Thanks to new connection technology, manual installation is easy: the connection block contains all the necessary connecting terminals, enabling universal installation. Moreover, the new electric strike fits in conven-tional strike plates, and can be easily adjusted.

GEZE ActiveStop:new door control

It is easier and more comfortable than ever before to enter a room. GEZE ActiveStop ensures that room doors open and close in a controlled, dampened way and are kept open in the same way. The door damper can be discreetly integrated into the door leaf, or fitted as a retrofit version on the door frame where it can be stuck on and easily removed again. This protects the door, as well as walls and furniture. Whether with a gentle, or more energetic push – GEZE ActiveStop opens doors independently up to an individually adjustable hold- open position of between 80 and 140 degrees. Doors are halted at the right time and kept open securely in the required position. Thanks to active damping, they close gently and quietly when they reach 25 degrees. Doors run freely at between 25 and 60 degrees. They are halted securely from 25 or from 60 degrees. GEZE ActiveStop keeps doors securely closed. No lock latches are needed.

The door damper has received multiple awards for its outstanding design, including the German Design Award 2016. GEZE ActiveStop received the Focus Open Silver award in 2015, and again in 2017 for the new version fitted on the door frame. The panel of the Baden-Württemberg Design Centre recognised the new product as an innovative solution with exceptional design quality, and awarded it the first prize in the 'Living' category. GEZE ActiveStop was also a winner at the ICONIC AWARDS 2018: Innovative Interior – Best of Best.

It is the slim all-rounder: the GEZE Slimchain chain drive will also be available as a version with 230 V in the future. Thanks to the 230 V connection with cable plug, the drive can be installed quickly and easily. With its slim, compact design, it fits discreetly into the facade. Nothing can stop comfortable, natural ventilation – in schools, offices or sports halls, or even within the comfort of your own home.

The Orgadata logiKal software solution optimises planning and manufacturing processes and saves time and costs. GEZE WinCalc 2.0: the calculation programme for window technology

GEZE WinCalc takes care of the complex calculations when designing a window system: time-saving, easy-to-use and convenient.
