FROM THE DESK OF FR. FALLON
EVERYBODY IS LONELY AND NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT. A friend blurted this out to me a couple of weeks ago and it caught me off guard. It’s true! Look—I think we’re all pretty busy and know how to fill our schedules, but are we really finding time for true, genuine companionship and fraternity? Or how about this: there are countless articles about Millennials and iGen youth who are addicted to technology, but is it fair to say that all of us find comfort in front of our screens, and that it’s become more difficult nowadays to form community? Everybody is lonely and Nobody is talking about it. Let’s talk about it! In the early Church, communities would gather for an AGAPE (uh-GAHP-ay) meal, or a time of love and fellowship, one big pot luck. Then they’d celebrate the meal of Thanksgiving, EUCHARIST, in the way Jesus taught them to do. What’s keeping us from doing this? Think about it. In today’s Gospel, Jesus says wherever two or three are gathered, there He is in their midst. And there, with Jesus, whether we’re alone or not, we can bring that loneliness to Him and learn to relate those feelings to Him for comfort and compassion. CHALLENGE: Introduce yourself to someone you haven’t met before you leave Church today. ***We also welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor this weekend!! Sisters, we’re so grateful for your ministry! Peace, FF

Forum on Homelessness in our Community
Homelessness affects hundreds of families, teens and pregnant women in the St. Louis area and in our own backyards. A forum to be held at the Mary Queen of Peace School Gym (680 Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves) on Wed., Sept. 27 at 7 pm will help you learn some of the new and innovative ways that local organizations are working to end it. Speakers at this informative event will include leaders from Covenant House Missouri, Our Lady’s Inn and St. Patrick’s Center. Also on display will be “In Plain Sight: Homelessness Exposed,” a photo art exhibit created after 100 disposable cameras were distributed to homeless people in Missouri so they could capture images of their living situations.
