What negative effects are texting in the classroom having on students grades and behavior in the classroom?

I wanted to research a topic that wasn’t often publically discussed.

I had to broaden my research question.

Texting in the classroom is having a negative effect on students grades and behavior because it is creating a distraction in their learning environment.

What are the social negative effects of habitual texting in a person’s life socially?

Pre-searched.

At first my research question was broad, therefore I needed to narrow it.

Texting can impact people socially by decreasing intimacy amongst people, and causing human communication to be at risk.

“What Dangers does texting in motion present to both the person texting and all others involved, and what is being done to prevent these dangers?”

I wanted to show a side of texting that presents a clear and immediate danger.

I then had to narrow the question to be specific about texting in motion as opposed to the dangers of texting in general.

Texting, although a useful tool at times, is dangerous for everyone involved if used while driving or walking, and the laws put into place to prohibit texting while driving have fair backing and need to be followed. Texters should also be more aware of their surroundings while texting and walking to protect themselves and others.

I answered my research question by finding the statistics, accident reports, and laws to show the dangers of texting in motion. This also proved my thesis by showing the many dangers of texting in motion first hand.

I used books, articles, and websites for most of my research.

One of the books I chose was Safe Text- Protecting Your Teen From the Dangers of Texting by Diane Griffin.

My article, "Trends in Fatalities From Distracted Driving in the United States, 1999 to 2008", shows the trends in texting related deaths behind the wheel.

I chose a website from the U.S. Department of Transportation that shows facts and statistics about distracted driving to help further my point on the dangers of texting and show the precautions being taken to prevent these dangers.

I have researched the authors of the book and article that I chose to use for the project.

I found that the author of the article that I used has a PhD., and is an expert in a relative field.

Because the author of my book wasn’t considered an expert, I checked her research and found that it was all documented.As for the website, it was put into place by a government agency, thereby making it reliable and relevant source for my research.

What are the dangers of sexual texting?

- the origin of the question came from searching the topic of texting and I had goal of tackling the most taboo topic.

Sexual texting can result in socially damaging events.

Sending nude photos could result in forwarding or just out right reveal of private photos.

For men it could result in a number of legal penalties more specifically, Child Pornography in cases of underage persons and in other cases harassment.
