After School Program Fall 2016 At The IDEAL School

The IDEAL School and Kids Creative are partnering to offer Fall 2016 after school enrichment courses and supervised play activities for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, Monday through Friday. Kids Creative has been running after school programs throughout New York City for 16 years and is excited to continue the growing relationship with The IDEAL School, its students, families, and community. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of course offerings and clubs. Each semester, class descriptions will be sent out to families at The IDEAL School and will be available online at www.kidscreative.org/ideal-after-school. Registration is now online at the same website. Our Current Fall 2016 Class Offerings Every afternoon, we will offer at least one class as well as free play. We will continue to add classes as become available. CAPOEIRA/MARTIAL ARTS (Monday – Grades K-5) Ever wanted to be a ninja? Build strength, confidence and agility in our martial arts class. This class combines traditional martial arts moves with fun and exciting games. Each class includes activities with lessons on respect, discipline, self-control, concentration and goal setting. CHESS CLUB (Tuesday – Grades K-5) Build your brainpower! Students will play chess, learning the basics, building on their game playing, and honing their individual chess skills. This unique instruction creates a supportive environment as students learn to play together, have fun, and build strategy and concentration. Students are also invited to attend weekend chess tournaments. All grades and skill-levels welcome! CREATE-A-PLAY (Wednesday – Grades K-5) Students will work together with professional actors, directors and musicians to create and perform an original musical, completely from their imaginations. The curriculum uses a creation method that emphasizes community, creativity, confidence and fun that is based on the philosophy that “all ideas are good.” CREATE-A-GROOVE (Thursday – Grades K-5) Students will participate in a collaborative song writing and music making program that also includes media marketing. Students learn the basics in music theory, gain hands-on experience with diverse styles of music and explore electronic based music programming with a teaching artist who is a professional musician. They learn beat making and song writing and create a song to perform for friends and family. ART MASTER CLASS (Thursday – 2nd Grade and up only)—LIMITED SPOTS

Be an ARTEEST! Our Art Master Class is a visual arts training program for those looking to build their specific design skills. Participants will work on individual art pieces as well as a group project, using a variety of artistic techniques. The class is taught by Kids Creative Summer Visual Arts Specialist Jess, who will be joining the after school for the first time. BASKETBALL CLUB (Friday – Grades K to 5) Get in on the fun…basketball skills and drills! Students will enjoy playing together and learning to work together as a team. Join this popular and dynamic club, building teamwork, sportsmanship, and friendship! 5th GRADE PARTICIPANTS Students in the 5th Grade have three choices for after school:

● Enroll in the K-5 after school program. Costs for the after school will vary depending on the number of days enrolled. Fees are detailed below.

● Participate in The IDEAL School APEX Program. To participate in APEX, please contact Coach Wayne Clark at The IDEAL School, [email protected].

● Participate in APEX and then participate in after school on days when APEX is not in session.

PAYMENT is due online prior to the start of each semester. Students wil l not be able to begin the after school program unti l ful l payment has been received.

HOURS /DATES The after school program runs on a semester schedule with the following hours:

Semester Schedule September 8, 2016 – January 27, 2017 Monday – Thursday: 3:30 - 5:30 PM

Friday: 2:30 - 4:30 PM DROP-IN If your child is not enrolled in a specific program, or is enrolled but not for every day, you may request a “Drop-In” where your child can attend after school for a specific day on a one-time basis. For a drop-in request, you must give 24-hours advance notice to the Kids Creative Site Director Laronda Parker via email at [email protected] or by phone. The fee for drop-in attendance is due at the t ime of issuance. PICK-UP POLICY Students will only be dismissed to an adult listed on their pick-up list. If a change in pick-up needs to be made you must contact the Front Desk or Kids Creative Site Director ASAP. Students wil l not be dismissed to anyone who is not on their pick-up l ist unless that person is authorized and confirmed through a note/email and/or phone call to the school. No student will be released from school without prior and confirmed authorization. There wil l be no exceptions. LATE FEE REMINDER The Kids Creative After School Program runs until 5:30 pm Monday-Thursday and 4:30pm on Fridays. There will be an enforced late fee of $15 for each 15 minutes past 5:30pm (4:30pm on Fridays) that your child remains at the school.

COST $1875 / Semester Per semester cost for 5 days a week. If your child would only like to participate in a specific club on a specific day during the week, the semester costs are below: Monday 14 classes = $427.00 Martial Arts Tuesday 17 classes = $518.50 Chess Club Wednesday 16 classes = $488.00 Rock N Roll Theatre Thursday 18 classes = $549.00 Create-A-Groove OR Visual Arts* Friday 16 classes = $488.00 Hoops *Art class is for 2nd grade and up only.

$30/ Drop-In Cost of a single day of Afterschool Programming. Financial Assistance: Financial assistance of 35% off the tuition cost is available for anyone already receiving financial assistance to attend The IDEAL School.
