This manual contains safety messages. They point out potential hazards that could hurt you or others around you as well as damage the equipment in use. These messages should therefore be read carefully and understood. They are highlighted by the safety alert symbol as shown on the left: The potential hazards are explained as to what could happen and how to avoid or reduce the chance for injury or damage.

Important information has been highlighted as well. To point out this information, a light bulb icon is used. It brings topics to your attention that could, for example, facilitate maintenance or to clarify when it is advisable to consult your distributor/supplier.

1.2. GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

The Resqtec rescue equipment is designed to provide safe operation. All users should read and be thoroughly familiar with the operatinginstructions and safety precautions stated in this manual. Operator safety depends on users being properly trained by the Authority havingjurisdiction and using the tool for its intended purposes only. The following safety precautions must be observed at all times:

UNTRAINED USE OF THE NT HYBRID AND ITS ACCESSORIES MAY RESULT IN VERY DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL SITUATIONS. DO NOT ATTEMPT!

•ResqtecrescueequipmentmustonlybeoperatedbypeopleauthorizedandqualifiedbytheAuthorityhavingjurisdiction. • Be aware that this is not an all-encompassing training manual. This manual is meant as a reference-guide for working with this specificpieceofequipment,andtheusershouldalreadybetrainedinandqualifiedforusingrescueequipment. • Suitable protective equipment must be worn as directed by the Authority having jurisdiction. At a minimum, this should include gloves, helmet, eye protection and body protection — such as turnout gear.

• Prior to use, inspect all components for any signs of damage or fraying. Do not use damaged equipment. • Stay alert. Do not operate the system when tired. • Use only Resqtec authorized service parts. • This equipment should only be used with accessories approved by Resqtec. Use of unauthorized accessories can result in unpredictable and unreliable tool operation and is therefore prohibited.



1.3. SAFETY INFORMATION

Before using the equipment and their related products and accessories, conduct an overall size-up of the intended use and safeguard against potential hazards before installing the product. Read and understand this manual before using the NT Hybrid bag(s).

The WARNING and SAFETY labels on the product alert the user to special hazards inherent with its use. Should they become damaged or unreadable, contact the manufacturer to obtain a replacement.

Before installing the product, be aware of the following:

• NT Hybrid bag(s) is/are designed for lifting objects. However, always use stabilization and or cribbing equipment to stabilize the load before lifting • When stacking NT Hybrid bags, NEVER stack higher than their maximum stacking capacity and always stack the smallest NT Hybrid bag on top. See chapter 7 for more information. • The NT Hybrid bag(s) expand(s) rapidly when air is applied. Stay clear of ends. • The NT Hybrid bag is been designed to support loads pushing against its ends only. Never side-load the NT Hybrid bag(s), use it as a step or hang something on it.

2.2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TheNTHybridbagshavebeendesignedandengineeredtoassistfirefighters,USAR-teamsandotherrescueworkerswiththevariousliftingapplicationstheyencounter.Weareconfidentthatthedesignofthisproductwillenablethoseworkingintheseenvironmentstonotonlynegotiate the obstacles they encounter, but to perform their work more safely.

TheNTHybridbagsconsistofaKevlar/rubbercombinationwithintegratedsteelparts.TheNTHybridbagscanbeinflatedbycompressedair.TheNTHybridbagscanbeconnectedtogetherforincreasedliftingheight(pleaseseechapter7forfurtherdetails).Deflatingcanbedonebyusing the specially designed handheld controller. Various accessories are available that allow the NT Hybrid bags to be used in differentsituations.

When receiving your equipment check for any sign of damage to the box, and report it to your supplier as damage could have occurred during shipping.Unpackinuprightpositionandchecktheequipmentfordamage.Tomakesuretheequipmentconformstoyourspecifications,checkthe product details on the label.

CHECK THE EQUIPMENT FOR EXTERNAL DAMAGE. NOTIFY THE SUPPLIER IMMEDIATELY IF ANY DAMAGE IS FOUND. DO NOT USE DAMAGED EQUIPMENT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!

4.2. PREPARATION BEFORE USE

• Check the NT Hybrid bag’s outer skin and thread. Do not use if they exhibit major damage and/or do not function as intended. •Seechapter6forfurtherinformation.

•ChecktheoperationoftheNTHybridbag.Wheninflated,theNT Hybrid bag should maintain its working pressure. •Seechapter6forfurtherinformation.

Take the Power Plate plug and use a connector key to fasten the Power Plateto the lifting bag.

Power Plate plugs should only be fastened hand tight.

Take the NT Hybrid bag and use a connector key to fasten the polar plug on both sides.

Polar plugs should only be fastened hand tight.

Take the NT Hybrid bag and place a Power Plate on either the top or bottom side, roughly in line with the hole in the middle.

A Power Plate on both sides is also possible.

4.4. PREPARING STACKED NT HYBRID BAGS

TakethefirstNTHybridbaganduseaconnectorkeyandapolarplugtoclosetheNT Hybrid bag on the bottom side.

Polar plugs should only be fastened hand tight.

MAKE SURE THE NIPPLE OF THE BOTTOM BAG IS FACING UPWARDS.

Mount a solid quick connector on the top side of the NT Hybrid bag by using a connector key.

Solid quick connectors should only be fastened hand tight.

To fasten the second NT Hybrid bag on the solid quick connector, turn the NT Hybrid bag clockwise.

The NT Hybrid bag should only be fastened hand tight.

Place the second NT Hybrid bag on top of the solid quick connector.

IF DIFFERENT SIZES OF NT HYBRID BAGS ARE USED MAKE SURE THE SMALLEST IS ALWAYS ON TOP.

If a third NT Hybrid bag is necessary, repeat steps 2 to 4.

4.5. CONNECTING PNEUMATIC HOSES

Now close the top NT Hybrid bag by using the connector key to fasten the polar plug into it.

The polar plug should only be fastened hand tight.

A Power Plate can also be mounted on top. See chapter 4.3.2 for more information.

Connect a shut-off hose to the NT Hybrid bag(s).

Formaximumoverview,makesurehosesindifferentcolorsareusedfor different NT Hybrid bags.

MAKE SURE THE SHUT-OFF HOSE’S VALVE IS FULLY OPENED.

WHEN CONNECTING, MAKE SURE YOU HEAR TWO SIGNIFICANT CLICKS.

Connect the delivery hose to the shut-off hose(s).

Connect the delivery hose(s) to the handheld controller.

WHEN CONNECTING, MAKE SURE YOU HEAR TWO SIGNIFICANT CLICKS.

The handheld controller of the NT Hybrid bag is compatible with a ProfixMaxcontroller.

4.6. DISCONNECTING PNEUMATIC HOSES

4.7. CONNECTING THE PRESSURE REGULATOR

To disconnect a pneumatic hose from any tool, press the black button once, then pull.

The female coupler will now slide backwards. Due to a built in safety mechanism, it is not possible to disconnect yet.

To disconnect the hose completely, press the black button again and pull. The hose will now come off.

BEFORE CONNECTING THE REGULATOR, MAKE SURE THE AIR CYLINDER’S VALVE IS FULLY CLOSED.

If applicable: unfasten the safety bolt from the air cylinder.

Fasten the regulator to the air cylinder.

Fasten hand tight only.

Open the air cylinder’s valve to pressurize the pressure regulator.

To avoid losing air, connect the handheld controller before opening the cylinder.

Connect the regulator’s hose to the handheld controller(s).

TWO CLICKS SHOULD BE HEARD WHEN CONNECTING THE HOSE.

ThehandheldcontrolleroftheNTHybridbagandtheProfixMaxare connectable.

Use the adjustment knob of the regulator to regulate the working pressure and to pressurize the handheld controller(s).

SET THE WORKING PRESSURE BETWEEN 8 AND 12 BAR.

BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE REGULATOR, MAKE SURE THE AIR CYLINDER’S VALVE IS FULLY CLOSED.

Turn the adjustment knob counter clockwise (completely) to release the workingpressure.

Dismount the regulator from the air cylinder.

Close the air bottle with the safety bolt.

Ifexcesspressureremainsinthepressureregulator,turntheadjustmentknobclockwise(completely)and then counter clockwise (completely) again.

For connecting a new air cylinder, please see chapter 4.7.

WHEN INFLATING STACKED NT HYBRID BAGS, ALWAYS START AT THE TOP NT HYBRID BAG AND WORK YOUR WAY DOWNWARDS. STARTING AT THE BOTTOM NT HYBRID BAG MAY CAUSE THE LOAD TO FLOAT, WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUSLY HAZARDOUS AND HARMFUL SITUATIONS. DO NOT ATTEMPT!

Prepare and stack the required NT Hybrid bags according to chapter 4.3.

Connectthehosesandpressureregulatoraccordingtochapter4.4,4.5and4.6.

WhenthetopNTHybridbagisinflatedtoatleast4bars(1),startinflatingtheNTHybridbag directly underneath it (2).

WhenusingProfixMaxtopneumaticallystabilizethebottomNTHybridbagmustNOTbeinflatedcompletely.

A LITTLE LIFTING HEIGHT IS NEEDED TO ALLOW THE PROFIX MAX TO LOWER THE LOAD PNEUMATICALLY IN A LATER STAGE.

AdvisetheProfixMaxmanualfordetailedinformation.

StartinflatingthetopNTHybridbagbypressingtheinflatebuttononthecorrespondingside of the handheld controller.

TO REACH ITS FULL STRENGTH MAKE SURE THE TOP NT HYBRID BAG IS INFLATED TO AT LEAST 4 BAR.

BEFORE DEFLATING, MAKE SURE THE LOAD IS EITHER:

a) Stabilized in such a way that the stabilization equipment can carry the full load by itself.b) Back in its original position and can cause no harm.

When the NT Hybrid bag is not in contact with the load anymore, disconnecting the delivery or the shut-off hoses can speed up the process.

MAKE SURE THE LOAD IS COMPLETELY STABILIZED BEFORE DISCONNECTING ANY HOSE.

StartdeflatingtheNTHybridbagbypressingthedeflatebuttononthecorrespondingside of the handheld controller.



4.10.2 DEFLATING STACKED NT HYBRID BAGS

WHEN DEFLATING STACKED NT HYBRID BAGS, ALWAYS START AT THE BOTTOM NT HYBRID BAG AND WORK YOUR WAY UPWARDS. STARTING AT THE TOP NT HYBRID BAG MAY CAUSE THE LOAD TO FLOAT, WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUSLY HAZARDOUS AND HARMFUL SITUATIONS. DO NOT ATTEMPT!

BEFORE DEFLATING MAKE SURE THE LOAD IS EITHER:

ALWAYS START WITH DEFLATING THE BOTTOM NT HYBRID BAG. IGNORING THIS CAN CAUSE SERIOUSLY HAZARDOUS AND HARMFUL SITUATIONS.

4.11. DISCONNECTING THE NT HYBRID BAG FROM A HANDHELD CONTROLLER

When the NT Hybrid bag has to be disconnected from the handheld controller, there are two options:1. Disconnecting the delivery hose from the shut-off hose, keeping air inside the NT Hybrid bag(s).2. Disconnecting the hoses and handheld controller completely.

4.11.1 DISCONNECTING THE DELIVERY HOSE FROM THE SHUT-OFF HOSE

3The delivery hose is now disconnected from the shut-off hose. The pressure however will remain inside the NT Hybrid bag.

DO NOT OPEN THE SHUT-OFF HOSE’S VALVE WHILE A LOAD IS STILL RESTING ON THE NT HYBRID BAG(S).

Disconnect the delivery hose’s female end from the shut-off hose’s male end.

CLOSE THE SHUT-OFF HOSE’S VALVE.



4.11.2 DISCONNECTING THE HOSES AND HANDHELD CONTROLLER COMPLETELY

NEVER FULLY DISCONNECT WHEN A LOAD IS STILL RESTING ON THE NT HYBRID BAG(S). IF THIS IS STILL THE CASE, ONLY DISCONNECT THE DELIVERY HOSE FROM THE SHUT-OFF HOSE, AS DESCRIBED IN THE PREVIOUS CHAPTER.

Disconnect the delivery hose from the shut-off hose and the handheld controller.

Disconnect the handheld controller from the pressure regulator.

Disconnect the shut-off hose from the NT Hybrid bag.

FirstdeflatetheNTHybridbagcompletely.Seechapter4.10forfurtherdetails.

BEFORE DEFLATING, MAKE SURE THE NT HYBRID BAG IS NOT CARRYING ANY LOAD.

4.12. DISMOUNTING A SINGLE NT HYBRID BAG

TodismountasingleNTHybridbagmakesuretodeflatefirstandreleasemostoftheair.

The NT Hybrid bag can be stored with two polar plugs still in place.

2If (a) Power Plate(s) is/are mounted on the NT Hybrid bag(s), use the connector key to unfasten the Power Plate plug. The Power Plate(s) can then be taken off.

Use a connector key and turn counter clockwise to unfasten both polar plugs.



4.13. DISMOUNTING STACKED NT HYBRID BAGS

TodismountstackedNTHybridbagsmakesuretodeflatefirstandreleasemostoftheairinside.

Take a connector key and take out the top polar plug.

If a Power Plate is mounted on the top NT Hybrid bag, use the connector key to unfasten the Power Plate plug. The Power Plate can then be taken off.

If a stack of three NT Hybrid bags is used, repeat step 3 for the second bag.

Now hold the sides of the top NT Hybrid bag and start turning counter clockwise. The NT Hybrid bag will then come off by itself.

The NT Hybrid bag can be stored with two polar plugs still in place.

Unfasten the remaining polar plug on the bottom side of the last NT Hybrid bag by using the connector key.

If a Power Plate is mounted on the bottom of the NT Hybrid bag use the connector key to unfasten the Power Plate plug. The Power Plate can then be taken off.

6.MAINTENANCE&STORAGE6.1. MAINTENANCE AFTER USE

Generally speaking it is most important to keep your tools clean. A clean tool is a safe tool to operate. Also a clean tool will not wear down as fast; hence a longer service life can be achieved.

ACTION EXPLANATION ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1. Clean and dry the NT Hybrid bag.

• Preferably use dry, clean paper cloth.

• Mild soapy water can be used if necessary.

Do NOT use any oil.

Dry thoroughly after using water.

2. Check the NT Hybrid bag’s surface for any damage or abnormalities. • Visually check for damage. If structural damage is discovered,

contact your Resqtecdistributor/supplier.

3. Clean and dry the NT-Hybrid bag’s nipple, all used plugs and other accessories.

• Preferably use a dry brush.


Do NOT use any oil.


4. Check all used plugs and other accessories for damage. • Visually check for damage. If structural damage is discovered,

contact your Resqtecdistributor/supplier.

5. Use cockpit spray (silicone free) to reduce aging of the NT Hybrid bag.

• Spray lightly and cover all rubber surfaces.

• Use dry paper cloth to wipe off excessive spray.

6.Clean and check the delivery and shut-off hoses for any damage.

• Visually check for damage.

• Clean the hoses with mild soapy water.

6.2. REGULAR MAINTENANCE

It is advisable to carry out regular maintenance; depending on the use at least every 3 months or 25 operating hours.

Whencarryingoutregularmaintenanceoneshould,inadditiontothestepsdescribedinchapter6.1,payextraattentiontothefollowing:

2. Make sure the O-ring inside the regulator’s male connector’s end is still in place.

• Attach a spare O-ring to the regulator if desired.

3. Pressurize the regulator to workingpressure and check for leakage. • Use soapy water to check for air leakage. Dry thoroughly after using water.

4. Thoroughly clean and dry the handheld controller and the hoses.

• Preferably use dry, clean paper cloth.


Do NOT use any oil.


5. Pressurize the control device to working pressure (hoses connected). • Use soapy water to check for air leakage. Dry thoroughly after using water.



6. Check the functioning of the safety valve of the shut-off hose.

If the safety valve is not functioning properly, contact your Resqtecdistributor/supplier.

7. Check the functioning of the gauges. If the gauges are not functioningproperly, contact your Resqtecdistributor/supplier.

8.Pressurize the hoses to working pressure without connecting them to the NT Hybrid bag.

• Use soapy water to check for air leakage. Dry thoroughly after using water.

9.Connect the NT Hybrid bag(s) to hoses, a handheld controller and air supply and check the system’s functioning.

• The bags should make at least two completecycles(inflateto2bar).

10. InflatetheNTHybridbag(s)to2barpressure for 10 minutes.

6.3. ANNUAL MAINTENANCE

Many years of safe use is guaranteed if the equipment is properly cared for and maintained. To this end the tool must be inspected at least once a year. This must be carried out by a service technician trained by Resqtec who possesses the necessary tools and testing equipment.

It is also possible for you, the user, to carry out basic maintenance yourself. In the context of your own safety and the product liability it is necessarythatappropriatetrainingshouldbeundertakenfirst.Yoursuppliercanadviseyouonthisand/orattendtotheannualmaintenanceona contract basis, if desired.

STRUCTURALLY DAMAGED AND/OR BROKEN EQUIPMENT MUST NEVER BE USED DURING RESCUE OPERATIONS. THIS MAY RESULT IN VERY DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL SITUATIONS. DO NOT ATTEMPT!

If structural damage and/or broken equipment or parts are discovered, immediately contact your distributor/supplier or the manufacturer.

DO NOT REPAIR ANY BROKEN EQUIPMENT AND/OR PARTS. ALWAYS CONTACT YOUR DISTRIBUTOR/SUPPLIER OR THE MANUFACTURER.

Repairing equipment and/or parts causes your warranty to expire. Always contact your distributor/supplier or the manufacturer when broken partsand/orequipmentarediscovered.Brokenequipmentand/orpartscanthenbesenttocertifiedservicecenters.

6.4. RECOMMENDED STORAGE

The following storage recommendations count for the NT Hybrid bag and its accessories:•StoretheNTHybridbaginitsspecialstoragecase.Besuretocorrectlypositiontheinflatenipple.•StoretheNTHybridbaginthedeflatedcondition,preferablyhorizontally.• Do not bend/deform the NT Hybrid bag during storage.• Do not stack any load/object on the NT Hybrid bag and casing.• Store the NT Hybrid bag in a clean and dust-free environment.• Do not store the NT Hybrid bag in an ozone environment and protect from ionizing radiation and direct sunlight or UV light.• Store the equipment in a dry, well-ventilated area:

7.2. KICK-OUT ZONE

WHEN USING STACKED NT HYBRID BAGS MAKE SURE TO STAND AT LEAST 5M FROM THE KICK-OUT ZONE.

7.3. POINTED LOADS

OBJECTS WITH SHARP EDGES, BOLTS, KNOBS AND/OR OTHER PROTRUDING PARTS MAY DAMAGE THE NT HYBRID BAG THAT IS IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE OBJECT. USE A POWER PLATE FOR EXTRA PROTECTION OF THE NT HYRBID BAG.

8. TROUBLESHOOTING

If you encounter any problems whilst using a cutter, please advise the following table:

Hint:whenairescapesfromtheNTHybridbagwhiletryingtoinflateordeflatethem,poursomewateroverpossible leaking parts. If it leaks, bubbles will show. In case of leakage contact your supplier.

Symptom Solution

The pressure on the gauge of the handheld controller goes to maxi-mum,buttheNTHybridbagdoesnotinflate.

One or more valves of the shut-off hoses are closed.Open the valves of the shut-off hoses.

WhileaddingairinsidetheNTHybridbag,itdoesnotinflateproperlyand the pressure does not go to maximum.

One or more hoses are not connected properly. Check allhose-connections.

WhileaddingairinsidetheNTHybridbag,itdoesnotinflateproperlyand the pressure does not go to maximum.

• The solid quick connector’s thread is not clean. Clean the screw-thread carefully with a soft brush.

• Use pressurized air to brush off the thread.

NEVER USE A HARD BRUSH. IT CAN SEVERELY DAMAGE THE SCREW-THREAD. DO NOT ATTEMPT!

Never use any liquids for cleansing the connector. Oil and other lubricants attract dust!

TwoNTHybridbagscannotbedisconnectedafterdeflating.

•InflatebothNTHybridbagstoamaximumof1bar.

• Unscrew one of the NT Hybrid bags a little bit.

•DeflatebothNTHybridbagsanddisconnecttheNTHybridbags totally.

Air escapes from a stack of NT Hybrid bags at the connector.

•TheNTHybridbagsarenotproperlyconnected.Deflatethe NT Hybrid bags and fasten the solid quick connector and the top NT Hybrid bag a little tighter.

• The O-ring might not be in place. Re-position the O-ring.

Air escapes from the cover plate.

Pour some water over the connector and see if bubbles occur. If not: On top of the cover plate there are 3 small holes. Pour some water over these holes.

If bubbles appear, the cover plate is damaged.

Contact your supplier.

Resqtec offers two years warranty upon the purchase of this product. For extending your warranty or information about the Resqtec service program, please contact your Resqtec distributor/supplier.
