Ways to Capture Your Children’s Best and Natural Expression

Most parents usually like taking photos of their children to document their growth. But for those pictures to be

memorable, you need to figure out ways to get better images of the children. The process can be quite challenging,

but if handled properly, it does not have to be a painful experience at all. There are things that you can do to keep

things fun and lighthearted during the photo session.

One of the best ways to capture your children’s best and natural expression is to be playful with the children during

the photo shoot. Try to do things that can make the children laugh naturally. Invite the children to be silly, tell them

jokes that will get them to smile and laugh, or make funny sounds. Allow yourself to be carried away in the fun with

your kids. If you will be hiring professional, you need to make sure that he or she is someone who has the ability to

be playful with the kids and make them laugh naturally if you want to be assured of getting great photos.

Another way that you can use to capture the kids’ best and natural expression is to invite ideas from them. You do

not have to feel like you are supposed to be the one to come up with plans for every picture you take. Occasionally

ask the kids what type of pictures they think would be fun to try. You may be amazed at some of the ideas that the

children might come up with. They could be having some of the best ideas ever for memorable pictures. They also

enjoy the photo session more when you ask them for their opinion. When you invite ideas from the children during

the photography session, you are deepening trust, helping them feel honored, loved and respected, and also learning

to better see them as individuals.

You can also capture your children’s best and natural expression by distracting them. Getting the children to stay

still for a photo can be really hard. You can try putting something on top of the camera like a fuzzy sticker or put

something on your head like reindeer antlers. By doing so, you will get the attention you want from them since they

are likely to stare directly into the camera. Another great way of distracting the kids is asking them questions during

the photo session. If you invite the children to answer a question or share a story of something that interests him or

her, you are surely going to get the best and natural expression from them.

Last but not least, you need to be prepared for the photo session. Before you start taking pictures of your kids, make

sure that the exposure settings of the camera are sorted out properly. If you keep scrolling through dials in the

middle of the shoot or fiddling with dials, you will run the risk of missing the best photo moments. The children

might also start losing interest in the whole event.
