Sunshine & Care Report

Delia Jasso was at the club today after starting a new position at Children’s Medical. Sandy Lenzner, wife of Lion Dick Lenzner is doing well with her treatment. Lion Ron Cizmas is in the hospital for infection suffered from an antibiotic reaction in his kidneys. 

Today’s inspirational quote was from the book of Psalms about hearing voices every morning and how the Lord hates evil, arrogant people and all those who do wrong. Personally, I prefer Lincoln’s quote, “He who has no vices has very few virtues.” Gotta have a little fun, right?

This Week’s Recap… With First Vice President Lion Steve Bayless taking the helm today, we had a myriad of announcements you can read below in the list and left today’s club in serious need of antidepressants!! Tail Twister Lion Chris King was assisted by Second Vice President Lion Carol Donovan who shared a recent story about Past President Lion John Dodd who spoke at a student/teacher event for Honors Academy where he encouraged any woman in the room that wanted to join the “Young Mother’s Club” to see him afterwards. Betty probably wasn’t aware of this effort… Lightning did strike as Bishop Dunne beat Bishop Lynch in high school football last week, which led to a variety of mildly humorous jokes about football, which seemed to be an unfamiliar topic to Lion King –especially after he told a joke involving the Houston Oilers as if they still played under that name (and in that city). 

Our program, Bishop Dunne teacher Brad Baker, scared the hell out of us today with educational tips to survive several potential disasters. After going through his top list of questions and the survival checklist that included items doubling as both utilitarian and weapon, our table left the meeting wondering if the main things to stash away should include some self medicating agent or cyanide to end it all on our own terms instead. Bottom line – enough food and water to survive six weeks to six months and a hiding place at least 500 miles from the metropolitan area should do it.

In 2012 he was recognized with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award in the health care provider category. In 2013 Dr. Mansfield was a recipient of the inaugural Becker's Healthcare 2013 Leadership Awards and was named among the Dallas Business Journal's DFW Who's Who in Health Care and Becker's Hospital Review's 130 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know.Dr. Mansfield is deeply committed to Methodist's mission to improve and save lives through compassionate, quality health care. He views his leadership role as a ministry to serve people from all walks of life in a rapidly changing health care environment. He is a sought‐after expert on the topics of leadership, wellness, and sustainable models of accountable care.
