First QuarterResults weren’t that

bad: earnings and revenue came in just below analyst estimates.

Guidance, however, was very weak. That, combined with an expensive stock, is why shares tanked.

The company slightly beat their watered-down guidance for this quarter.

Again, however, guidance was weak. Management blamed an expected decline in its Positive Train Control and Mobile Resource Management for the tepid outlook.

If this term is new to you, the idea behind the “Internet of Things” is best explained by Foolish colleague Chris Neiger, who says:

Put more simply, using Chris’s words:

“Think of the Internet of Things as a way for everyday objects to talk to each other,

and talk to you.”

Insurance TelematicsIn this division,

insurance companies are willing to give customers significantly reduced premiums if they have devices tracking their driving behavior.

It is one of the first massive applications for CalAmp’s products in the Internet of Things.

The company offers technology to help manufacturers and construction companies track and monitor their equipment.

A large deal with Caterpillar is expected to help drive adoption.
