About the Trust

The DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation (the Trust) is the primary resource for developing partnerships that expand and improve services and opportunities for children and youth in the District of Columbia, especially during their time out of school. The partnerships include those with public schools, city agencies, nonprofit providers and funders.

What’s New: FY10 Summer RFP

• Youth Development focus – linking youth development outcomes to program outcomes

• Award process changes – clarity on scoring and how proposals are reviewed

• Matching funds – all proposals must reflect a 20% match• Indirect costs – cannot exceed 5% of direct costs • Vetted by DCPS – for all categories when serving DCPS

students

youth)– Programs must register as job sites through DOES

29, 2010

– No proposals will be accepted after 4 pm

– In-person submissions only

– Proposals will not be accepted via fax or email

– Incomplete proposals will not be accepted

– Submit 1 original (marked « original ») and 4 complete copies (marked « copies ») – all unbound

– Only 2 proposals per organization will be accepted

– Mark priority on cover sheet

• Award Process: page 16– 3-5 independent reviewers will evaluate each proposal

– Reviewers will convene for a consensus session

– Trust staff can add up to 15 points to a proposal (details on page 17)

– The Trust Board of Directors will have final say on funding decisions.

– Awards announced (via email) on April 16, 2010

– All decision are final. Applicants may request in writing a copy of reviewers’ score sheets and comments

Proposal Tips• Make sure proposal exactly follows order in RFP • Do not submit documents/materials that are not requested in

the RFP (e.g. curriculum, photos, etc.)• Avoid general language, be detailed and specific especially

regarding:– Program activities and schedule– Roles of partners and/or subcontractors– How you have used evaluation to improve your program

• Work plan should list goals (youth development outcomes), activities directly related to the goals, measurable evidence of progress demonstrated by youth, and method/instrument(s) used to capture this progress

Proposal Tips (continued)

• Budget narrative should be detailed (show all math) and based on each line item in budget

• Current fiscal year finances must include: 1-budget, 2-actual for BOTH revenue and expenses

• Put specific names in organizational chart (when possible)• Articles of Incorporation are NOT the same as “Copy of

Incorporation under the District of Columbia Nonprofit Incorporation Act”

• Clean Hands Form MUST be the correct form (says Clean Hands Form) and stamped by the Office of Tax and Revenue
