My name is Megan. Onething I like to do is gohorse back riding, swingon a bag swing and jumpon a trampoline withwater. I chose to do thisanimal because I thinkthey are cute and they arevery intelligent. I alsopicked this animalbecause I wanted to picksomething that not manypeople picked.

Who Am I ?

I am a chimpanzee. I havebrownish blackish fur. Iam about 4 to 5 feet talland I weigh about 70 to130 pounds. I amendangered. I am a closerelative of humans. I livein rain forests , grasslandsand woodlands. I eat fruits, plants , insects , eggs ,and meat. I like to swingthrough trees and vines.

The Early Years

Mothers can havebabies at any time ofthe year. They stayhanging on theirmothers until they areabout two years old.When chimpanzeeshave babies theyusually have only onebaby at a time.

Habitat Sweet Habitat

Chimpanzees live ingrasslands , woodlands ,and rain forests.Chimpanzees stay intrees with leaves as a bedor nest to sleep in.Sometimes a chimp familywill share their space. Inthe rain forest where thechimps live it is pretty wet, rainy , and warm.

What’s on the Menu?

Chimpanzees usuallyeat plants or fruit.Sometimes chimpseat eggs , insects andsome meat. One thingchimpanzees love toeat is bananas.Another thing they eatis grubs and nuts.

Making Tracks

A chimpanzees footprint is almost exactlythe same as ahumans. They havefive toes on each foot.Their hand print isalmost exactly like ahumans with fivefingers. It leavestracks in mud or sandlike stuff by walking.

Chimps in zoos areknown for imitatingpeople. They groomeach other. Babiesdepend on olderchimps to teach themeverything. They usea leaf to put over theirhead for shelter fromrain.

Chimps live ingrasslands,woodlands and rainforests in Africa aswell as many zoosaround the world.
