5 Ways to Enhance Your Brain Health
Oftentimes, we use our brains simply and continuously without really
knowing how to care for it. And before we know it, our brain function
degenerates. However, contrary to popular belief, age is not the only
causal factor to brain shrinkage. Instead, our lifestyle is that one big
contributing factor. Therefore, embrace these new changes now in
order to boost your intellect, amp up your memory and keep yourself
mentally healthy at all times.
1. Exercise
Regular exercise will improve blood flow to the brain as well as make
learning new tasks faster. Exercising will also cause nerve cells to
multiply and subsequently strengthening their interconnections and
protecting them from damage, thus encouraging your brain to work at
optimum capacity.
2. Challenge Your Mind
Do you know that the size and structure of neurons and the connections
between them actually change as you learn? Hence, keep on learning and
challenging your mind with activities such as learning a new language,
learning new skills and etc. Games that involves mental stimulation exercises
such as puzzles, Scrabble can also exercise the brain and keeping it fit.
3. Eat Smart
Studies have shown that certain food have the benefits of slowing mental
decline. Examples of brain-boosting food are those that are high in Omega 3
fatty acids, DHA and EPA, as they are believed to lower the risk of dementia
as well as improve memory and focus.
4. Rest Well
Needless to say, quality sleep is vital for protecting both your physical and
mental health. While it regenerates your physical body when you sleep, it will
dramatically boost and restore your brainpower that will result in you reaching
new mental insights.
5. Have Fun
Regular social activities can keep our minds sharp as they promote creation of new brain cells
and supports brain repair. Sharing new experiences, challenges, knowledge and emotions with
family and friends will provide the necessary motivation towards activity and involvement.
