Libris, LUBsearch or Lovisa?
Which one should I use?
Let’s see if we can explainthe differences!
Libris, The Swedish university and research libraries search service
Librishttp://libris.kb.se/
• Find books, theses, journals, music, e-books, etc.
• Useful when you are looking for an overview of information in a specific field of interest
• You scan the holdings of the academic libraries in Sweden but it is also possible to find books in Lund and at the RWI Library
• Note that you cannot access all of the e-resources from Libris. You might have to use LUBsearch to get full access
LUBsearch, a common access point to all the resources in
the Lund University Libraries
LUBsearchhttp://www.lub.lu.se/
• All library resources avaliable at Lund University Libraries in oneplace
• Find articles, journals, theses and books
• Find databases, eJournals and eBooks and retrieve them online
• Use your StiL/Lucat account to get access, it does not matter where you are
• Note that you get many double hits and that can be confusing and make it difficult to grasp
Lovisa, the common catalogue for Lund University Libraries
Lovisahttp://www.lub.lu.se/
• Search for books, journals, doctoral dissertations, reports, e-books and e-journals
• Apply for a library card
• Renew your loans online
• Note that you cannot
search for articles in Lovisa
The pros and cons
• All three search methods are useful
• Lovisa works well to locate books within Lund but you cannotsearch for articles. To renew loans you must use it!
• When trying to locate books in LUBsearch you automaticallyend up in Lovisa
• In LUBsearch you can locate all kinds of material but you mayencounter a lot of duplicate matches
• Libris is easy to use and it provides a lot of possibilities for advanced searches but if you find online material you mighthave to switch to the local Lund catalog to get access to it
• Libris provides you with the correct citation of many different reference systems
Did you get it? If not, never hesitate to ask a librarian close toyou.
