2. American Flag
The American Flag represents The United States of America. The first was created to represents the Grand American Army and the thirteen original colonies. The thirteen colonies are represented on the flag as the thirteen red and white stripes. Each star represents each state in America.
3. Great Seal
The Great Seal is a detailed symbol that represents our country. The Great Seal is found on passports, important documents, medals, and the back of a dollar bill. It shows a bald eagle holding an olive branch with thirteen berries in its right talon, and thirteen arrows in its left talon. The olive branch and arrows represents the power of peace and war. Our nations saying is, E Pluribus Unum, or, Out of many, one. Also on the seal is the saying, AnnuitCeoptis, which means, It has flavored our undertakings. Also on the Great Seal the saying ,Novus OrdoSeclorum or, A new order of the ages. The back side of a dollar bill has an unfinished pyramid which means more states can join.
4. The Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell is a symbol of American freedom. The first Liberty Bell was made in England. In 1756, the bell hung in the bell tower of the United States House of Pennsylvania. The last it was rung was in 1846 for George Washingtons Birthday. Today you can view the Liberty Bell at the Liberty Bell Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
5. Nations Birthday
The Fourth of July is our nations birthday. July 4, 1776 was the day the Declaration of Independence was approved. Thomas Jefferson drafted the first Declaration of Independence. It explains why the thirteen colonies wanted to separate from England. John Hancock was the first to sign the declaration.
6. The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom and liberty throughout the world. France gave the stature to the United States to celebrate one hundred years of American independence and friendship between the two countries. The Statue of Liberty sit in the New York Harbor.
7. The National Anthem
The National anthem is named the Star Spangled Banner. Francis Scott Key wrote our National Anthem. It was originally named, Defense for Fort McHenry.
