Purpose
• Students can mention reasons why we need to analysis in understanding a literary work.
• Students know how to analyze fiction well.
INTRODUCTION
• The title of the subject is how to analyze fiction. I presume that the word analyze will immediately evoke hostile responses in many readers.
• Thousands of students have asked hundreds of teachers. “Why can’t we just enjoy what we read?”.
• The answer of that statement is enjoyment is quite properly what most of us seek in our reading of fiction.
• For all the occasional sneers directed at “mere entertainment”, it would be very hard indeed to make a convincing case for the superiority of unentertaining fiction.
• In fact we want to get the fullest possible measure of enjoyment out of every story that we read.
• Analysis must be not only properly understood but also rightly undertaken.
• Analysis itself can often be drudgery, whether the analysis be of a literary work.
• The analysis of a literary work has still more to be said against it: it is bound to be artificial.
PROSE consist of:• Plot• Point of view• Character• Setting• Theme
Steps to Analyze Fiction:
• Have the fictional work and paper available to take notes.
• Identify the setting• Choose the point of view of the
narrator• Identify the characters• Establish the story's main
themes.• Identify symbolism in the story • Identify any figurative language• Gather your notes together
Conclusion
• Prose is ordinary language that people use in writing such as poetry, stories, books, etc. The word prose is derived from the Latin word 'prose' meaning straightforward.
