BLACK AND WHITE

The theme I chose for my photography project is Black and white photography. Black and white photography was originally rare and

expensive but it remained a niche market for photographers who use it for artistic purposes.

The reason why I decided to base my project on black and white photography was because I felt it was effective to use the contrast of the two colours in a photo. The fact that they are opposite to each other on the colour wheel actually makes the photo stand out. I feel

the stark contrasts between the two colours enhance the subject matter and whenever I look at a black and white photo, I can see so

much more detail. That is what I aimed to achieve when I took photos of everyday objects; that my photos would make people more aware of small little details that they don’t take notice of normally. I also utilised the macro feature on my camera when I was taking an

up-close photo of something.
