IS SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE A BRITISH FILM?

Yes...... because it has British financing, a partial British cast and crew, a director with a pre-existing reputation for films synonymous with Britishness eg. Trainspotting and Shallow Grave and a recognisable popular cultural reference point with ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’.....

However....... the global success of the film indicates a universal appeal. The romantic quest resolves, right overcomes wrong, honesty defeats corruption and the closing song promotes a ‘feel good’ experience.
