Attracted by the combination of the experience of

the oldest management school of the Netherlands

and the dynamism of a reputable private business

school from Germany, I soon discovered that

MsM/CBS Executive MBA program has much

more to offer. Three study locations, international

student environment, state of art education and

methodology encouraging intellectual discussion

proved particularly empowering as a studying

formula. Distinctive features such as a unique

perspective on sustainability, bringing together

people with very diverse working experience and

a study schedule which does not require you to

put your career on hold are yet other important

advantages of the program. Most of all though, the

people, the fellow students and the professors,

the friends you gain along the way form the true

narrative and make it a life experience.

Beata B. Wlodarczak, LL.M.

I joined the EMBA at MSM & CBS because I wanted

to broaden my profile, I had an IT background and

the EMBA helped me to be well prepared for the

next career step.

The modular program was the best fit for

balancing a demanding job and a high profile study.

The atmosphere was absolutely terrific; I was

impressed by the variety of competences and by

the positive attitude of all the participants. Every

day was a new challenge and we learned a lot from

each other.

Modular Design

The EMBA Program, to be completed in 24 months, includes conveniently-paced lectures and classes conducted in seven 10-day modules, minimizing the time that participants need to spend away from work. One module, offered at a partner university in Shanghai, involves a two-week session with lectures and work visits to local businesses. Other modules are taught alternately in Maastricht and Cologne. In the eighth and final module, participants will write their Master’s theses. The EMBA program consists of four elements, starting

with the Foundation segment which provides a solid knowledge base in each of the major management disciplines. The following Core segment offers courses with a broader focus, which are more integrated and are often multidisciplinary in nature. The Specialization segment contains a number of expert specialization courses. The program is completed with a supervised Master’s Thesis as the Performance segment, based on a current business research project of your choice.

Teaching Methodology

Our aim is to stimulate critical thinking and transform business and management problems into profitable opportunities. With a multidisciplinary and multicultural perspective, we teach concepts and theories through problem-based learning exercises, case study analyses, discussions and independent study – not just lectures and seminars.

These problem-based learning exercises and case studies stimulate decision-making, acting as a vehicle for identifying and analyzing problems, for deriving solutions and finding ways to implement them. Group study emphasizes working efficiently and effectively in multicultural groups – an invaluable skill for all leaders and managers. Group study enables participants to benefit from the experiences of others – group members are selected at random to maximize learning opportunities in an environment designed to foster collaboration with fellow participants from different cultures and work environments. As a program taught in three different countries, the EMBA provides excellent opportunities to enhance intercultural communication skills.
