What is competency based training (CBT) ?
• competency based assessment is based on competency standards set by industry
• competency means that students have satisfactorily demonstrated:
• necessary knowledge and skills
• ability to apply knowledge and skills to practical situations and industry standards
• relevant employability skills
• you do not receive marks for your assessments

Central’s assessment policy
• assessments are to be submitted on or before the due date
• please provide a medical certificate or other evidence if you are unable to meet the date, or sit an assessment, due to illness
• you will be given constructive feedback on your assessments
• at the lecturer’s discretion you may be given a 2nd attempt on an assessment if your work meets the majority of the assessment criteria

Academic Misconduct
Cheating • E.g. Copying or handing in someone else’s
work
Plagiarism• E.g. Taking another person’s work or ideas
and claiming them as your own
Collusion • E.g. Two or more students exchange or share
work and claim it as their individual effort

What else should I know about assessments ?
• ask your trainer/assessor to clarify what is required
• keep a copy of your assignments
• start your assignments well before the due date
• use the library resources and staff (they can also help with research, referencing and report writing )
• please provide the trainer/assessor with constructive feedback

Recording of Results in a Unit
Competent (CO) Final result - on review of all the assessments
Re-enrol (R) If final assessment result does not meet the unit requirement and student is required to re-enrol
Hold (H) If assessment result does not meet the unit requirements and students have been advised to resubmit by a negotiated date
If you wish to appeal an academic result, the appeal must be lodged within four weeks of the date of the Statement of Academic Record being issued

I’m thinking about withdrawing…
You may be thinking about withdrawing from a unit/course, however….
• please talk it over with your trainer/assessor first
• ask your lecturers about alternatives to withdrawing
• Before you withdraw, contact the Student Success Centre on 9202 4323 to discuss your options
• Details of the refund policy are on the back of the enrolment form

VET - FEE HELP
• Eligible students of this course can opt to defer the payment of all or part of their fees by applying for VET FEE-HELP
• To be eligible you must be an Australian citizen or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa

• If you are a VET Fee Help Student upfront part payments will be refunded, if you withdraw on or before the Census Date
• No refunds are paid if you withdraw after the Census
