If I Were Santa Claus (If I make a million dollars...) 1. Write on the board a sentence frame using if+_________________ the
present tense- e.g., “If I________________, I will (would)_____________.”2. You and your students sit in a circle.3. Say a hypothetical sentence like, “If I make a million dollars, I will travel
around the world.” 4. The first student to your right makes a sentence that uses your result
clause as his or her if-clause- e.g. “If I travel around the world, I will stop in Rome.” 5. The next student continues- e.g.,
“If I stop in Rome, I will go to the Vatican.”6. The chain might go around the circle one or more times, as long as student interest is high.

1. Each student writes three sentences about himself. Two of them are true, one is a lie.
2. The students read their sentences and the group must guess which of them is the lie.
LOGO Four Pictures Make a Story
1. Divide your class into four groups with at least four students in each group.2. Give each group a picture.3. In the groups, students look carefully at their pictures. Students describe their picture to one another thoroughly, making mental notes of as many details as possible. 4. Collect the four pictures.5. One student (the “ambassador”) leaves each group, goes to the next group, and describes his picture to this group. (Students in this group now have 2 mental pictures, one they have seen and one that has been described to them.)6. The “ambassador” stays put. Another student from each original group moves on to repeat the process. (Each group now has 3 mental pictures)7. Repeat the process. (Each group now has 4 mental pictures.)8. Each group writes a story that includes all 4 pictures. 9. Each group chooses a reader to read their story aloud to the class.10. Ask, “Do you want to change any details in your stories?” Discuss.Note: In large classes, use 8 pictures, 12 or more.
LOGO Gift Exchange (Secret Santa) Place the names of your students in a box and ask each student to draw
the name of a person for whom to buy a gift. At the next lesson, ask each student to give his present and explain why
that person deserves a present. Or, they might describe the person who he is going to give the present to, and the class should guess who that person is.
OR: Ask your students to make a Christmas card for a classmate. After they are
done, they come in front of the class show their cards and explain why that person deserves it. Ask them to write a message in the postcard!
LOGO Christmas Wishes Ask each student to write a wish on a Christmas tree
decoration. Then, each student comes in front of the classroom, says what
he expects from the new year and hangs his decoration of the Christmas tree.
