There are many different codes and conventions used to make a movie magazine, attractive and appealing to the audiences.

This is done is a various amount of ways.

Main Image From looking at both images we can

see that the images are both captivating and also able to catch the readers eye easily.

When looking at the ‘Film’ magazine, it has a picture of the mad hatter and is very bold and bright and colourful. This links in with his character profile. The main image is there to sell the movie and when the magazine was released this was the latest box offer film.

When looking at the ‘Empire’ magazine, it has a picture of Harry Potter. This movie is favourable by most viewers and has a wide audience for it. This will help attract people to pick up the magazine and read the contents on the harry potter movies.

Tag lines Tag lines are essentially the main selling point for the magazines.

They are there to give a preview into what you can expect to read with the magazine

Film:There are minimal amount of tag lines. However they are bold and in a bright colour. This will help in selling the magazine as it will help in capturing the readers eye. The information is about the newest things within the industry so it will bring the audience into reading itEmpire:The main tag lines are about the main image and relate towards this. There is some addition information with images to support the other tag lines. This will help giving a visual idea into what is in the magazine.

Promotional offers A promotional offer is something which the

organisational company will use to entice the audience into buying the product. For the purpose of a movie magazine it will be based around the main actor or actress which will feature in the movie of the magazine.

In ‘Film’ the promotional offer is a ‘poster’ this is something which is targeted at teens and an accessory they will have in their room. This is important when making a movie magazine because it helps it sell. Something which the institution will want to do when creating the magazine.

In ‘Empire’ the promotional offer is a preview into the new film staring Daniel Radcliffe ‘aka Harry Potter’. This is something which fans want to know. This will provide a ‘tease’ into what they can expect to watch when the film is finally released.
