Collaborative GroupTask Cards
for Elementary Students

Use these easy to understand visual cards to help elementary students
understand their roles in cooperative/collaborative
group work.
Four Member TeamsResource Manager: Gets supplies, makes sure that the team cleans up and is the only member allowed to ask the teacher questions.
Facilitator: Makes sure everyone gets started and has the important job of making sure that everyone understands the task and the concept that is learned.
Task Manager: Watches the time in timed activities and keeps the group on task. (For example: not talking to other groups or wandering around room.)
Recorder: Makes sure that everyone is taking their own notes, and is the person that goes to a huddle when the teacher calls for one and returns to share information with the group.
Resource Managers
My job is to get supplies
and clean up.
My job is to ask the teacher when we
need help.
Facilitators
My job is to make sure everyone gets started. My job is to make sure everyone understands.
Task Manager
My job is to keep track of the time. My job is to make sure everyone is on task.
Recorder
My job is to make sure everyone is
doing the work and writing notes.
My job is to share tips from teacher huddles.
It is recommended that elementary teams shift to 3 members
instead of 5 in the event of odd numbered classes.
For teams of 3 combine 2 roles.
If you must have teams of 5, split the recorder job into two jobs:
Recorder and Team Messenger
Use the following task cards to replace the Recorder card.
