Accessibility Fly from Cardiff straight to Cork with Aer Lingus (airport is 20 minutes

from the city and can get a bus in).

Fly into Dublin and travel down to Cork on a coach (3.5 hour coach).

I travelled from Cork to home (Cavan) and back every weekend.

Process

Requested a paediatric setting

Got in contact with the Erasmus co-ordinator in Cork

Organised my placement

Helped me prepare the appropriate forms and information

Got in touch with my educators

Setting: Enable Ireland (children’s services) Cork.

Provides a wide range of services for children from birth to young adulthood (usually eighteen years old).

Situated about 10 minute bus journey from the city centre. Travelling and sight seeing while working. Worked with a lovely team Learned a lot in my setting Experienced working within a

different healthcare system

Muscular Dystrophy, Erb’s Palsy and a few others

Accommodation

Find accommodation early (in the summer) even if you don’t know where your placement is!

Look around- you can get uni halls, private, digs etc. I lived in digs which worked out better for me

Culture IRISH

Weather- a lot of rain in Cork!!

Good atmosphere- pubs, restaurants..

Shopping

Meet new people

Travelling and sight seeing:tours- Ring of Kerry, The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher
