2. Forget their written language and no longer kept records (birth, death, taxes, etc)

3. Craftwork no longer remembered

# 6 & 7. People of Greece

• The Aegean world (meaning Greece) did not trade with anyone during the Dark Ages.

• They were cut off from the Middle East and other parts of the known world.

• This forced the Greeks to recreate their civilization.

• Discussion: If you could change any part of our civilization what part would you change? Whomever holds the flashlight talks.

#8, 9, 10. Creating an independent civilzation

The Greeks returned to farming as their main way of life. This was due to the fact that farmers only made enough food for their families. So if a carpenter or blacksmith wanted to eat they had to start farming as well. Many jobs and skills were lost due to this fact.

The small plots of land were ruled by Kings

These small plots of land became very independent.

Define independent: use the dictionary.
