There are a variety of digital media tools that can help assist diverse learners such as:

Students with specific learning disabilities in reading and or math

English language learners

Students with varied ability levels

Multicultural students

Students with limited access to technology in the home

Mr. B is introducing his 4th-grade students to

fractions, and his curriculum requires students to solve word problems using fraction skills. His students are struggling, and he is not certain whether it is because they lack the basic fraction skills or whether they are struggling with comprehending what the problem requires them to do. He is looking for technology resources to assist his students.

I suggest that Mr. B should look for different online resources that involves interactive games students can work on individually or in small groups. Mr. B can also provide practice activities on a regular basis to make sure that his students are making progress in learning fractions.

Here are some other fraction resources that Mr. B can use to help tutor his students on fractions and in other subject areas in math .

Mrs. C is a 7th-grade science teacher with a diverse group of students. She is creating a lesson plan around habitat loss in local environments and wants to use technology to help support her diverse students. She is struggling, and as a teacher leader, you are mentoring her thorough using technology to help meet their needs.

I would suggest that Mrs. C bring some findings of habitat losses to her classroom such as having her students to watch a video ,using power point slides or using a projector with slides to help draw her students interests on habitat loss and to make sure that her students understand and comprehend the information being presented to them. Mrs. C can put her students into small groups to research and work on the internet discovering more information on habitat loss.

Mrs. C can have her students learn more about the habitat loss by having her students to visit a Web site for each habitat. Her students would be able to discover more on habitat loss by visiting each website :

Grasslands: cheetahspot.com

Temperate forest: northolympic.com

Tropical rain forest: http://www.pbs.org/edens/manu/index.htm

Desert: desertusa.com

Ms. R is a high-school English teacher who is preparing students for a state-mandated test with a heavy reading and literature focus. Because this test is a graduation requirement, she wants to ensure her students will perform well and pass the test. She has come to you looking for help on using technology to help students prepare for this test.

I would start by designing practice assessment tests online that will have similar items used on the state-mandated tests that would help prepare Ms. R students for the actual test. I would provide test-taking strategies that Ms. R students can utilized if they are challenged by difficult categories of questions. I would provide continuous software programs online that her students can use to help them with their reading and literature skills to better prepare them for their exam.

Here are some other resources that Ms. R can use to better prepare her students for the state-mandated test.
