What is the situation today• The application is currently hosted @CINECA • Your own your data, CINECA is keeping it safe and

available for you • Hosting will be provided for two year after the official

end of the project

▪ 6

What’s happening afterwards ?• Option A: • to take custody of your own data (export), move it to your

server • Option B: • continue to be supported by CINECA (hosting, maintenance,

support) • Option C: • DOQUP Network ?: establish a Central Asian Center inside a

University (or existing agency) to: • continue supporting (technically and organizationally) the

DOQUP model and documentation system • extend the system to a wider pool of universities in CA

Toward an integrated systemAn system that is designed to manage the quality assurance of the study programmes… and: • the course catalogue according to ECTS • the digital objects associated to the courses • integration with other systems • compliancy to international standards

▪ 9

Possible Evolution of DOQUP - toward an integrated system

• Open Source framework - DSPACE • Enhanced Graphical User Interface • functionality • findability

• ECTS label • integration and support with ECTS Course Catalogue

• Interoperability standards • Open Badges for learning outcomes/competences (ePortfolio,

LinkedIn, social media integration) • Metadata Learning Opportunities (MLO) for Course Descriptions • Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for digital objects

▪ 10

Anatomy of the DOQUP evolution

▪ 11

DSPACE• Moving to an Open Source platform which was originally

developed by MIT for the Open Courseware Initiative • a platform which is also one of the most popular

Research publications repository worldwide

▪ 12

www.dspace.org

DSPACE• Distributed management and authorizations • Configurable data quality validation workflow • Enhanced data input capability • Bulk data load from XML, Excel/CSV and DB • Integrable with Reporting and Business Intelligence tools • Integrable with Student Information Systems or third party

solutions (SAP, etc.) • Powerful Indexation and High Visibility (Webometric) • Browse, facet search, interlinked detail pages, • usage statistics • Interoperability through OpenSearch, RSS, WS SOAP/Rest▪ 13

ECTS and Metadata for Learning Opportunity• A DOQUP course catalogue manages all the information

required to obtain the European Credit Transfer System ECTS Label

• A DOQUP system provides web services that lets import/export the course catalogue from/to external systems through the MLO standard for describing courses

Digtial Object Identifier• Attach and store any digital object to a study program,

e.g. pdf documents, video files, archives etc. • the standard way of locating a digital object online, its

permanent web address.
