Use these helpful steps to quickly and effectively use the database PsycArticles. Provides full-text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology. It contains more than 100,000 articles from 59 journals - 48 published by the American Psychological Association (APA) and 11 from allied organizations. It includes all journal articles, letters to the editor, and errata from each journal. Coverage spans 1894 to present.

When should I use PsycArticles?

0Use PsycArticles database when you are looking for articles on psychology topics.

0PsycArticles contains articles from both magazines and scholarly/academic journals.

put a check in the box that says “Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals”

0Type your topic into the search box then click on the “Search” button

0You need to spell your search terms correctly

0You don’t need to use any of the other boxes or limiters

Working with your results

0Your results are sorted by relevance0That means the “best” results are on

top, not the newest0Use the slider on the left to weed out

older dates0Click and hold the slider, drag it to the

date you want, and click on “Update”

Read the article0 Click on “PDF Full Text” below the

article description0 If you have a choice between PDF and

HTML Full Text, choose PDF.0PDF articles come with page numbers. If

you use a quote from your article in your paper, you will need the page number. HTML does not have page numbers.

Using article tools0Look at the “Tools” menu at the right of

the page0From here, you can print the article, or

email it to yourself0You can also print or save the article by

using the icons at the upper left corner of the article

Citing the Article

0Under the Tools menu, find the icon that looks like a yellow sheet of paper.

0When you mouse over it, it will say “Cite.”0Click on that, then choose your citation style (APA, for

psychology) from the list.0You can copy and paste the citation into your works

cited or references page.0Note: the citation may not be 100% correct. Check

with an APA style guide for the correct format.0This does not give you the in-text citation.
