El mundial 78La historia paralela

Football is the main topic, and there is little to no reference to the military government.

Even though it is longer that the other movie, and there are many chances to talk about the crimes being committed, these are ignored.

Mundial de Football 1978La película oficial

The main topic is obviously the crimes being committed by the military.

The football matches are used mostly to indicate the dates.

I didn’t enjoy football growing up. My aunt and grandfather used to watch football matches on TV and I would get extremely bored. What I did enjoy, as most people, was watching when the national team played. The main reason I don’t like it much is that there is a great lack of sportsmanship on professional players, and this really bothers me.

I think that it is okay for people to have a passion, but I think that football is given too much importance in Argentina. Nevertheless, it is more than just a sport for many people, so I’ll have to learn to live with football fans.

I have never met a professional football player, and I wouldn’t really mind if I did. I know that it requires talent and skills to be a pro-player, but I don’t care for football as much as for me to care.

• Most of my knowledge regarding the military governments of the 70’s is scattered so I don’t think I’d be able to properly tell how it all went down. I learnt some of it through TV, and the rest through my family and friends, specially my grandfather.

• I would say that the main reason for the coup was a mix between hunger for power and the usual “the end justifies the means”. I think that the people responsible for it did at one point think that they were doing the right thing. I don’t think that the information I have about those years is biased, but I wouldn’t dare to say that they are completely true and impartial all the way.

• I don’t actually get especially touched when reading about the 70’s, mainly because no one from my family was affected in any serious way by what was happening. I do find it very interesting and enjoy watching documentaries about it.
