• Teaching isn’t easy, especially if you’ve just begun in a new classroom.
• There will always be a learning curve when it comes to getting your new students under control.
• Regardless of the age group of the students you’re teaching, the following 5 tips will always be relevant and helpful:

• The best way to start off on a good foot w/ your students.
• First impressions are hugely important, so show that you’re warm & caring
• Smiles will reassure your students that you’re excited to be there with them
E S TA B L I S H C L E A R R U L E S
• Avoid general classroom chaos & being taken advantage of by creating a clear set of rules.
• If the rules are clear, concise, and known, students won’t be able to use the classic excuse of “oh I didn’t know”.

• This ties directly back to the clear set of rules
• Make sure you enforce those rules.
• Students will still break rules they know exist —but they are less likely to do so if they know exactly what the punishment will be
B E F U N
• It’s usually an uphill battle to get your students to enjoy school.
• It’s up to you to show them that school and learning can be fun.
• If your kids think you’re boring and your class is too, they’ll actively try to entertain themselves by undermining you.
• Save everyone the headache, and try to create fun, engaging lessons for the students
