The process of forcing ink through a porous fabric and the open areas of a stencil to produce an image.
SCREEN PRINTING
Two terms commonly used: Serigraphy (in the field of fine arts) and Screen Printing used in the graphic communications industry.
SCREENPRINTING AS POP ART
• Credit is generally given to the artist Andy Warhol for popularizing screen printing identified as serigraphy, in the United States.
• Warhol is particularly identified with his 1962 depiction of actress Marilyn Monroe screen printed in garish colors.
GREEN FILMGREEN FILM adheres to the silk part of the silk screen frame and block out the parts of the screen. It serves as an alternative to the paint on screen filler, stencil and photo emulsion technique in silkscreen printing.
