Mission Statement:

• Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

The Ultimate Goal of Habitat is:

To eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by building adequate

and basic housing.

Problem:

• Families in our own community are living in sub-standard housing.

• When Millard Fuller founded Habitat for Humanity, his goal was to see “No more shacks”.

• Take a look at the following “shacks” in Caldwell County.

Process:

• Families living in these types of sub-standard homes are eligible to apply for a Habitat house in our area.

• After the application, the families will go through a long process of interviews, financial reviews, meetings, and seminars. Once this is complete, some candidates will be selected to receive Habitat houses.

• Chosen families must meet several requirements before ground is broken on their home:– 79 volunteer hours on someone else’s home,

50 of which must be completed by the family, the other 29 can be completed by volunteers.

– Attend preparatory meetings– Attend seminars on subjects like:

• Caring for their homes• Living Healthy • Caring for themselves

The Solution:

• Groundbreaking.• Once all of the requirements are fulfilled,

construction can begin. • Ground is broken, and the foundation is

laid. • This next section will show many projects

within the past few years, from start to finish:
