People do many things to bring good luck. They clean their homes, decorate it with flowers, and put out a special tray of candies. people also play games and light fireworks, and watch the dragon parade, singing and dancing.

MARDI GRAS

Before the sacrifices of lent, people have traditionally held celebrations to let off steam and use up food that had to be given up for lent. Popular practices include wearing masks and costumes, overturning social conventions, dancing, sports competitions, parades, etc.

SAINT PATRICK´S

DAY

March 17, the anniversary of the death of St. Patrick, is the day the Irish celebrate being Irish. Although St. Patrick is likely from England or Wales he lived in Ireland about the same time as St. David. he is said to have been captured by pirates at the age of 16 and held as a slave for six years.

HIROSHIMA DAY

Hiroshima day is observed in many parts of the world with special vigils and peace marches. It is held to commemorate the dropping of the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on august 6, 1945. Three days later a second bomb fell on the city of Nagasaki. The occasion is marked on August 6th.

HALLOWEEN

Is a holiday that's celebrated annually

on the night of October 31. It

originated in Ireland, and is

celebrated in quite a few countries

including Ireland itself, the United

States, Canada, the United Kingdom,

Japan, New Zealand, Australia,

Sweden among others. It's celebrated

in a variety of ways and activities

including trick-or-treating, ghost

tours, bonfires, costume parties,

"haunted house" tours, carving

pumpkins (Jack-o'-lanterns) and

reading / watching scary stories /

movies.
