Incense Clocks
• Incense clocks are sticks calibrated with known burning rates. The sticks are marked and at a set time a weight will drop onto a gong. The sound signifies a certain period of time has past. These clocks are believed to have originated in India but were practically first used in China. The clocks are usually in decorative trays.

Sundial
• A sundial is like a shadow clock. The sun hits the tall structure in the middle of the clock which casts a shadow on to the dial. There are marking on the dial to tell what time it is. Where the shadow meets the sun is the point which shows the time.
