IHC Education Summit Brings Together High School Educators

International Horizons College (IHC) hosted its Education Summit 2013 on its campus in downtown

Dubai. Over 50 high school counselors from throughout the United Arab Emirates, Middle East, North

Africa and South Asia attended the three day event.

IHC is p oud to o ga ize the Edu atio “u it stated D . Do e. The pu pose of the “u it is to empower counselors as professionals in guiding their students toward college success. By engaging in

discussions with peers on common issues they face, college counselors from throughout the region

learned new counseling techniques and shared best practices while extending their professional

et o ks i a s that ill e e e efi ial to thei stude ts.

Counselors representing high schools from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan and

India attended various workshops covering a variety of topics including:

Resources available for counselors to assist students in the admission processes to the elite US

universities

Strategies for counselors to assist students in choosing their majors/fields of interest and the

selection of university

Presentation on college life and coping with personal challenges

The IHC Education Summit included senior representatives presenting in workshops from the University

of California Berkeley, Rutgers University and University of Vermont.

At the conclusion of first day activities IHC hosted a Gala Dinner for the IHC board of trustees,

counselors, and educational leaders. The featured speaker was Osman Sultan – Chief Executive Officer

of du.

imagine. In telecom, everything is turning digital in every conceivable way, where individuals and other

users are increasingly becoming more involved at the very heart of the digital ecosystem; this digital age

will be an enabler of positive transformation for you – the educated youth of tomorrow. I am

particularly excited about the emergence of Smart Education technologies, such as Cloud-based learning

which paves the way for a happier, more enriching learning environment. I invite everyone here to

embrace the opportunities that come their way, for they could potentially change the world as we know

it.

Organized by IHC, the college is selective institution which offers two-year Associate of Arts degree. It is

committed to fulfilling high standards of intellectual excellence relevant to the 21st century. The

institution provides high academically performing students within the UAE, Middle East, North Africa

and South Asia region with an American curriculum college education in arts, sciences and pre-

professional studies and serves as a bridge for transfer access to elite universities in the United States
