Improve Your Literacy and Numeracy Abilities and Transform Yourself Forever
The consequence of poor numeracy on people's lives is often less apparent than poor literacy.
However, we do have significant proof that low numeracy abilities may be the cause of reduced
opportunities in life. This can react negatively on you, the family and on the public as a whole.
Adult Literacy and Numeracy in the United Kingdom is indeed a problem, resulting in many finding
it hard to manage their own cash or assist their kids with homework.
Numeracy is a skill that’s found mostly in maths but also in other subjects. Numeracy is much
more than an ability to do simple sums as it needs an appreciation of everything numbers and an
ability to crack quantitative or spatial exercises in a varied number of contexts. Numeracy also
demands that you are knowledgeable of the ways through which information is collected and the
way to present it in graphs, tables and charts.
It also calls for you to be great at problem solving, to be able to understand and explain the
solutions, the art of decision making and to interpret data. Information technology presents us with
a lot more data than ever before and places a greater emphasis on possessing numeracy abilities.
Literacy and Maths games are purposely intended to increase our English and Maths abilities as
per the National Curriculum. Literacy and numeracy books and games encompass many key
curriculum areas for anyone requiring assistance with literacy and spelling and Maths at key stage
1 and 2. These are also very useful for anyone with special needs like dyslexia or for English
spelling while studying or teaching English as a foreign language.
Being able to read means it is possible to effect positive changes to your life. You have the power
to see yourself in a different way and to empathise with other people more fully. Previously, kids
often read in the home for pleasure, speak with their mom and dad or siblings as long as it meant
having some sort of interaction with others. Nowadays they sit and watch TV and DVDs or play
video games that do not entail any interaction with others at all. Conversing and interacting in
some way with other people is crucial for both children and adults to accomplish their full potential
in literacy.
Anyone who finds it difficult to use numbers could feel a little uncomfortable about it and this may
affect their confidence as they are powerless to assist their kids with their maths study and are, as
a rule, unwilling to put in for a more difficult occupation.
Obviously the beginnings of numeracy are best laid early. Alas, some adults could have slipped
through the cracks and may now find themselves having problems with ordinary every day tasks.
In England alone there are approximately 17 million adults with poor numeracy abilities and the
number is still on the increase.
By way of literacy and numeracy books it's viable for every person experiencing difficulties to
develop these skills and this would inevitably improve your options in life and also broaden your
career possibilities.
It's sad to learn that only 1 in 3 kids own a book and that one in 4 leave infants school having
attained an inadequate level of literacy! Real books are a present from the Gods and are vital to
real success in Literacy and Numeracy.
