Within Inception starring Leonardo Dicaprio the camera is seen to be tracking towards and away in movement with the characters in correlation to another fight scene happening else where, as the car is swerving/ flipping over so is the corridor which is rotating in order to make the audience feel uncomfortable and un easy but also inferring that there’ s a link between these two events. The use of the two fight scene’s doubles the amount of information the audience is receiving therefore it creates the build up of tension as they audience is continuously seeing two different events back to back. As the music’s pace increases so does the amount of shots cuts between each other.

Although the characters movement is fast the panning of the camera is slow, it is only until the last few shots where the camera is shaky and the camera starts to pan faster, this is when the event taking place is more tense. The camera is used as a navigator as the characters follow the camera and is seen to be situated in front of what is happening this also signifies that the car which was also being used to navigate in the chase seen before and after when the scene is cut in the same direction as the character is walking off after the fight panning right.

What the audience doesn’t know is that actually the scene was shot upside down with the actors attached to bungee elastics which helps to give the representation that gravity isn’t present , this connotes that the characters do not have control over the event which is taking place, this then relates to the car as it isn’t stationary but is flipping over signifying that the driver has no control over what the car is doing. A number of scenes are filmed as a close up inside the car in slow motion this interprets and blows up the actual forces of people crashing into the side of the car.

The slow motion shots creates a breather from the action this allows the audience to keep engaged with the event , Furthermore if t he sequence didn’t have a breather it could looses the audiences attention all together. These characters which are situated in the car are actually unconscious which tells the audience that they are actually unware of the events taking place adding more tension to the short as it could be uncomfortable to watch, the glass fragments in the air infers that the car is damaged due to the action that is taking place, the broken glass represents the situation which is out of hand and the characters are trying to put the pieces back together.

The colour balance within these two shots allows these sequences to infer that two different events are taking place. This helps the audience to recognise what the specific meaning of the event is and that these two events are actually linked together. In the corridor the scene, the lighting hasn’t actually been edited and is natural on set , consequently which most film editors try to remove, this created an eerie and tense mood due to the oranges and red tones. Additionally the dark and blue tones gives the representation that they are outside during the car scene which helps to create the Mise -en –scene and its gives a cold look.
