Integrating Technology in the Classroom: A Teacher Perspective

DESCRIPTION

Students want to be taught with the same level of technology they utilize in their everyday life; they should not have to power down to attend school. It is becoming increasingly important for schools and districts to recognize this trend and engage with students through both traditional teaching methods and those that incorporate technology-based learning. Join us for a discussion with Westside Community Schools (NE) as they share the success they have had with their Apple® 1 to 1 laptop program. Not only is Westside using their 1 to 1 program to extend the school day but they are also using technology in the classroom. We will hear from two teachers on how they are engaging students in the classroom everyday using a variety of tools including online journaling, podcasts, blogging and discussion boards.

“Usually I'm like a marathon runner collapsing at the finish line....satisfied but glad it's over.

[but] I have had more fun teaching this semester than I can remember and actually will be sorry when the year ends.”
