  3. 3. One of the main problems in the teaching of English language in an educational private institution is that have some new students who have poor or null knowledge of English language. In this way, I accepted the challenge to teach these students for leveling and improving their skills, in order to avoid bad grades, lack of interest and even worry among people involved (parents, teachers, and students).
  4. 4. At first, we have to analyze and describe the most important reasons to apply this project. In fact, we must describe how the research was based, it arose of researching in a private school (Liceo Jerome Bruner) placed at north of Quito, at the beginning of this new scholar year. After a few days of evaluation, it was noticed that the new students who came from a public schools, were not at the same level of knowledge than the other students. Once we had gathered all the information about the problem, we can start develop the project, setting the parameters and focusing in the attainment of goals.
  5. 5. The preliminary results have shown that there are some problems due the lack of knowledge of the basic grammatical structures of English. The evaluation was based on the corresponding curriculum design for fourth level with topics as: use of English, vocabulary, personal information, basic grammatical structures of English, and common expressions in class.
  6. 6. METHODOLOGY: Classroom assessment methods, outlines a range of methods teachers use in assessing childrens knowledge. OBJECTIVE: Show the level of knowledge of the childrenDEVELOPMENT OF ACTIVITY 1: We organize this examination in the tentative same schedule for the workshop. It is on Fridays with 2 hours of duration. The students had 30 minutes for this test, and the results were duly analyzed.
  7. 7. OBJECTIVE: Organize in a duly way the workshop to avoid unexpected events. Once the results were analyzed, it was creating a curriculum plan to develop the workshop, taking into account all those details to be thought. The workshop is going to take place all Fridays at 12:30 to 13:30. Therefore we had to adequate the classroom and making sure that we have all didactic materials that this project needs.
  8. 8. The workshop started with seven children. In the first class, we started it watching a movie, these are movies oriented to the teaching of English for children, they are known as Magic English. These are videos that provide information and enable to students interact with the characters. This creates a nice environment for the learning. It is useful start the workshop with a warm up activity, after that, we used some flashcards to introduce new Vocabulary. It will be necessary follow the planning and employing the most suitable methodology for each class, in order to obtain the expected results
  9. 9. METHODOLOGY: I think that the most suitable is Inductive Method, although during the workshop we can used many methodologies according of students needs. It is important establish a module plan to develop this project so here is the module plan developed of competencybased curriculum:CRITERIA:Introduce him/herself and others in the correct way. Make and answer questions referring to personal information Recognition of familiar words and phrases Writing a short paragraph about yourself Reading of short paragraphs and infer the main idea
  10. 10. EVALUATION ACTIVITY After each class the students will be evaluated to follow the leveling process. This enables us implement tasks, correct some strategies, and reinforce the acquired knowledge. The Evaluation process must to be applied after each class due to the short time for developing this project; and it is important measure the results constantly to get an idea about the progress of the students

  13. 13. The educational model maybe can have some deficiencies, but , teachers have to turn the problems into opportunities to learn more and being a facilitator of knowledge. Throughout this experience, we could learn about strategies and techniques that can be used in order to get the proposed objectives.
  14. 14. There are several problems that arose during the development of this project. But mistakes are normal in the learning process. So, it is important consider some aspects to outline a project. The preliminary phase is important, because we have to take into account some facts such as who are the learners? What is their background? Do we count with the duly support of authorities? Are the parents agreeing with these kinds of activities?
  15. 15. I could say that this project has enabled to enrich my knowledge, and has been an excellent experience for me as a teacher, I know now that the children can enjoy this way of learning
