›Jack ma was born on September 10, 1964 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China.›As a youngster Jack wanted to learn English. He began showing up at the single hotel in Hangzhou that hosted the foreign tourists. For the next nine years, he came daily and offered a free tour of the city for English-speaking guests, which allowed him to practice his conversational English skills.›Ma earned a degree from the Hangzhou Teachers Institute in 1988, and took a job as a teacher there when he finished.›His English became so good that he started his own translation agency.

In 1988 he traveled to the United States.

›Ma had his first encounter with a computer when he stayed with a friend. (They were nonexistent in China) It was also his first time using the internet. ›After this he asked his friend to help him put up website for his translation business, which got him emails almost immediately.›He then returned to China and became one of the country's first Web entrepreneurs.›He soon launched China Pages, an Internet company that is believed to have been the first commercial website in China.›Alibaba.com in 1999›In 2003, Ma stepped into the consumer online auction marketplace with Taobao.com, which means "searching for treasure.

Yahoo! bought a 40 percent stake in Alibaba.com for $1 billion. In return, Alibaba—valued at the time of the deal as worth $4 billion

America as an English interpreter.

Sachs, to start his new company called Alibaba.

small companies in China make more money.
