Tribute Ride to Uncle Harry, US Army

As we shared in our pre-ride post, this ride was to honor Uncle Harry for his service. Without men like Uncle Harry, US citizens wouldn’t be able to be so liberated today!

July 4th’s Door County Overniter

WOW,

we have a blast!

We rode north from Waterford up to Door County along the Great Lake Michigan. It was pretty windy- the Lake even had whitecaps on it!

We went to our first Fish Boil at Pelletier’s Restaurant in Fish Creek. They boil your dinner right in front of you- great show and fabulous fish! Check them out when you’re at the Door:

An Easy Summer’s Night

Wilson’s Ice Cream Parlor

(a fine establishment and landmark in Ephraim, WI)http://www.wilsonsicecream.com

This place was hopping- there must have been over 100 people here! They have such enormous servings- so you might want to be like us and order the kiddy size if your don’t want too much…

A great place to rest your head…

Sister Bay’s

Coachlite Inn

This place was a super-great find! Clean and quaint- there’s even have a pond with fish, herons, and deer right on the property! We met the new owners who are fabulous folks… and their morning coffee is excellent

This was a fabulous soak after the ride!

The Mrs.’s Only Agenda Item… Pipka’s!(one of the world renown Santa designers)

Several years ago ,Chris bought a beautiful Santa for my collection which was made by Pipka. While I read the book to learn about this exquisite Santa, I learned Pipka’s was in Door County.

So we inquisitively went to Pipka’s Cottage on Saturday morning and we had a wonderful chat with none other than the wonderful Pipka herself! We enjoyed our chat, bought a wonderful ornament of wolves pulling a sleight for Chris, and then Chris found his little queen a crown. Yes, a crown which Pipka made! So for a brief moment, I traded my snazzy helmet for a crown for a photo opp for Pipka’s blog. Stay tuned…

Breakfast with the Goats!?!?!

Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant not only has a yummy and plentiful breakfast it also has grass on its rooftop so the goats have something to eat-really!?!?!

http://www.aljohnsons.com

This is amazing to see and a great photo opportunity. We took the bait… ate, came out only to find….

That some bandit really wanted a nice camera more than us apparently! All the photos in this adventure, thus far, are from the official websites because someone stole our camera while we were eating! This was such a disappointment for us- Chris was really upset because we had exquisite photos for you to see! … Sorry

…So we filed a Stolen Property Report at Sister

Bay’s Fire House…ugh!

Looks like our precious Annie

(our chariot) is on Color Guard duty,

doesn’t it?

Making the best of a crummy situation

And here’s Chris at Gil’s Rock- caught between having the best time of his life and being frustrated because we don’t have our camera.

(That’s Deathdoor Bluff behind Chris across the Waters of Green Bay/Lake Michigan)

Thank goodness we had a cell phone camera to assist us!

Below is the view from the Ellison Bluff Lookout. From this angle, Chambers Island is in front of Marinette & Menominee, WI (across the Bay- approx 30 miles away)
